OBJECTIVE: To describe two cases of inherited antithrombin III (AT-III) deficiency presenting at less than or equal to 28 days of age, and to review other neonatal reports.

Two cases of acute aortic thrombosis, a previously unreported complication of antithrombin III deficiency, are reported. Both patients had abnormally low antithrombin III levels, which improved to normal levels with warfarin ;sodium therapy.
