This study investigated heavy metal and volatile organic compound contamination in residual dust from inspection bays at two major vehicle licensing offices in Trinidad, West Indies. Although Cryptosporidium has been found worldwide in molluscan shellfish from waters contaminated with human and animal feces, little or no related environmental data have been obtained. Three hundred and fifty-three patients diagnosed as viral hepatitis and 2100 obstetric patients were tested for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg). Forty-three percent of the acute cases were HBsAg positive.
