PURPOSE: To investigate the likelihood of surgeons performing lower blepharoplasties having cases of diplopia persisting for more than 1 week after surgery.
METHODS: An anonymous survey (13 questions) on the frequency and characteristics of persistent diplopia (lasting >1 week) after lower blepharoplasty was sent to members of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

This nursing home employee underwent a combined blepharoplasty, eyelid ptosis correction, and replacement of breast implants. One month later, she developed localized abscesses of both eyelids. PURPOSE: To report a case of horizontal diplopia after a four-lid blepharoplasty.
DESIGN: Observational and interventional case report.
METHODS: Analysis of the history and management of a 64-year-old man who underwent a four-lid blepharoplasty, after which he developed horizontal diplopia.

PURPOSE: To report a case of necrotizing fasciitis after cosmetic blepharoplasty.
METHOD: Case report. A 74-year-old woman with history of type II diabetes mellitus underwent bilateral upper eyelid blepharoplasty. Postoperatively she developed fever, grayish discoloration of the skin, violaceous bullae, and a right facial nerve palsy. Necrotizing fasciitis was diagnosed and treated with intravenous antibiotics, debridement of necrotic tissue, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
RESULTS: The infection resolved, but the patient required reconstruction for correction of cicatricial ectropion.

A patient who underwent a cosmetic blepharoplasty suffered a retrobulbar hemorrhage with no light perception deception detected when the dressing was removed two hours postoperatively. Opening the incision site led to the complete return of visual acuity and ocular motility and relief of the proptosis.
