The second branchial cleft cyst lacks typical symptoms, and its clinical manifestations are complex and varied. Among them, the second branchial cleft cyst manifested by sleep snoring is relatively rare, and it can easily lead to missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis. This paper reports a case of a second branchial cleft abscess with snoring as the main manifestation. The branchial cleft cyst was removed using an endoscopic branchial cleft.

A 40-year-old, female lesser crested cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea) was presented with a complaint of hyporexia and sudden onset of sneezing and wheezing. Physical examination revealed mild stertorous inhalation, and the apex of the heart was palpable caudoventral to the distal tip of the sternum. Projection radiographic images showed a soft tissue mass displacing the heart and the thoracic portion of the trachea. A subsequent computed tomography series revealed a single, large, and predominantly encapsulated soft-tissue mass. The mass was contained within the cranial thoracic region and occupie

Objective:To analysize the clinical characteristics as well as the effect and methods of the surgical treatment in patiets with the third and fourth branchial anomalies.Method:The clinical data of 25 patients diagnosed as third and fourth branchial cleft fistula by pathological method were analyzed retrospectively. Two of 25 patients had undergone fistulectomy simply.Based on the embryologicc and anatomic features of branchial anomalies,23 of 25 patients had received different types of selective neck dissection. All of lesions were confirmed as branchial cleft fistula by pathology. All patients w

We present a rare case of a third branchial pouch cyst in an 18-month-old child, presenting with stridor and a lateral cervical cystic mass. Differences in the anatomical course of third and fourth branchial cysts, and histological differences between branchial pouch and branchial cleft cysts are discussed.

Cysts and congenital lateral cervical fistulas are related to the persistance of the normally transitory branchial pouches and their embryologico-anatomic arrangement. Due to this fact they have a preferential topography. An atypical fistula of the second branchial cleft is reported. It is a congenital supra-hyoidian lateral cervical fistula with an intra-parotid route which terminates in the tonsils. The extreme variability of the external orifice, the pathogenic nature of the internal orifice and of the fistular route, as well as the initial discovery of the facial nerve and tonsillectomy in

The total extirpation of thyroglossal duct remnants with resection of the mid hyoid bone is reported as the only method for successful surgical therapy. Convoluted ducts of cysts and fistulae must be dissected to the base of the tongue and excised. As our cases demonstrate, recurrences will be avoided and revision surgery, when required, will be most successful.

Second branchial cleft cysts (BCCs) are the most common type of branchial abnormalities and usually found high in the neck. Oropharyngeal presence of a BCC is very rare. The authors report a rare case of oropharyngeal, second branchial, multilocular, cleft cyst in a 9-year-old child (8.0 × 5.0 cm in maximum diameter). The cyst was removed completely via extra/intraoral approach and did not have tract-like structure. The anatomic location together with the histopathology results, which showed a squamous epithelium-lined cystic wall with lymphoid aggregation, were characteristic findings of a BC

We present a case of a 62-year-old female patient with a right latero-cervical mass and an enlarged arytenoepiglottic fold, that caused voice disturbances. Computed tomography of the neck depicted an unilocular and homogeneous well-defined cyst located in the right parapharyngeal space that extended through the thyrohyoid membrane. It was initially diagnosed of mixed laryngocele. During surgical resection, no connexion between the lesion and laryngeal ventricle was detected, so the final diagnosis was branchial cyst. We discuss the pathogenicity and clinical, radiological and histological find

The authors have described genesis, localization and diagnosis of the first branchial cleft anomaly and the case of the branchial cyst in the deep parotid lobe. Surgical treatment (superficial parotidectomy and cyst extirpation from the superior part of the deep parotid lobe) was effective; one-year follow-up revealed no recurrence of the anomaly.

Bronchogenic cyst is one of the more common congenital pulmonary anomalies. It is related to abnormal budding of the tracheobronchial tree during embryologic development. These lesions may present as a mass in the lung parenchyma in the mediastinum or within or below the diaphragm. An unusual case of bronchogenic cyst presenting as a mass in the supraclavicular fossa of a 24-year-old woman is reported. Treatment of bronchogenic cyst consists of excision of the mass. Recurrence is rare if excision is complete.
