Bronchiectasis is an uncommon pulmonary manifestation of systemic sclerosis (SSc). We report the case of a 70-year-old woman with CREST syndrome and vasculitis who developed multifocal symptomatic bronchiectasis. The bronchiectasis and immunosuppressive therapy precipitated severe lower respiratory tract infection, which was fatal within a few months. The concomitant occurrence of bronchiectasis and SSc raises the possibility of a pathophysiological relationship. There are few studies addressing the frequency and etiology of anemia in progressive systemic sclerosis. Anemia is present in about 25% of these patients. Among the implicated causes are ferropenia, generally associated with gastrointestinal hemorrhage, and renal failure. PURPOSE: To report two cases of retinal vasculitis associated with CREST syndrome, a novel ocular finding.
OBSERVATIONS: We report two cases of patients with CREST syndrome with ocular inflammatory disease. Patient 1 presented with a right unilateral panuveitis with extensive retinal vasculitis and evidence of prior uveitis in the contralateral eye. Patient 2 presented with a left branch retinal artery occlusion and bilateral retinal vasculitis. Both patients underwent treatment with prednisone and mycophenolate motefil.

PURPOSE: To report a case of CREST syndrome associated with juxtafoveolar telangiectasias (JT).
DESIGN: Case report.
METHODS: Observational case report.
RESULTS: A 64-year-old woman affected with CREST syndrome developed bilateral visual loss. Capillary dilatation and permeability changes in the outer retina were noticed during an angiographic study. The authors report the case of a 62-year-old patient complaining of recent onset of disabling breathlessness on exertion, and presenting clinical signs of previously undiagnosed scleroderma.
