Catheter therapy has gained an important role in the treatment of congenital heart disease. The cumulative experience with vascular and valvular balloon dilations has demonstrated low mortality and morbidity with short-term results similar to surgery. UNLABELLED: A prospective study was done during a six-month period to evaluate number, function, difficulties of placement and immediate and late complications of central venous catheters for hemodialysis. OBJECTIVE: It has been a widely accepted practice that a previous placed pacemaker, automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators, or central line can be a contraindication to placing a hemodialysis catheter in the ipsilateral jugular vein. An indwelling urethral (Foley) catheter is a closed sterile system that is inserted through the urethra to allow for bladder drainage. In the 1930's Frederick Foley designed a rubber tube with a separate lumen used to inflate a balloon which holds the catheter in place in the bladder.
