PURPOSE: This study, conducted as part of the Keep It Up! (KIU!) 3.0 trial, compares the implementation costs of 2 strategies-centralized direct-to-consumer (DTC) marketing and decentralized distribution through community-based organizations (CBO)-in delivering an evidence-based online HIV prevention program.
METHODS: We conducted interviews and collected data to identify and quantify all costs for both delivery strategies. Costs were then categorized into start-up and ongoing (time-dependent and variable) costs and assigned dollar values based on established microcosting protocols.

BACKGROUND: Consumer involvement in health-care policy and quality management (QM) programming is a key element in making health systems people-centered. Involvement of health-care consumers in these areas, however, remains underdeveloped and under-prioritized. When consumer involvement is actively realized, few mechanisms for assessing its impact have been developed. The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) embraces consumer involvement of people with HIV in QM as a guiding principle, informed by early HIV/AIDS advocacy and a framework of people-centered quality care.

Despite high reported rates of antipsychotic non-adherence, little is known about consumer experiences during discontinuation. This study was designed to increase understanding of antipsychotic discontinuation from consumer perspectives. In 2011-2012, 98 Australian consumers involved with participating organizations completed an anonymous survey detailing past antipsychotic discontinuation attempts.
