Displacement behaviour regulates the experience of stress in men.

Behavioural coping strategies represent a key means by which people regulate their stress levels. Attention has recently focused on the potential role in coping of 'displacement behaviour' - activities such as scratching, lip biting and face touching. Increased levels of displacement behaviour are associated with feelings of anxiety and stress; however, the extent to which displacement behaviour, as a short-term behavioural response to emotionally challenging stimuli, influences the subsequent experience of stress remains poorly understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the potentia

Context, coping, and mental health in refugees living in protracted displacement.

There is currently an unprecedented number of forcibly displaced people worldwide. Little is known, however, about how external stressors and internal coping strategies intersect to influence mental health in displaced refugees, particularly whether specific types of coping strategies are more or less effective across different levels of external stress. This study aimed to understand whether positive and negative internal coping strategies were differentially associated with mental health across high and low levels of external stressors in displaced refugees. Participants were 1,216 refugees

Condylar and disk position and signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders in stress-free subjects.

BACKGROUND: The authors conducted a study in subjects who tested free of psychological stress to determine the position of the condyle and whether that position was related to signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). METHODS: Forty subjects underwent psychological evaluation to ensure freedom from psychological stress. The authors evaluated tenderness of the masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joints (TMJs) by means of bimanual digital palpation, and they determined the positions of the condyle and disk by using magnetic resonance imaging. RESULTS: A total of 23.75 per

Dry Eye Symptoms Among Adults Aged 40 Years and Older in Gaza During Humanitarian Crisis: Prevalence and Associated Factors.

BACKGROUND: Dry eye disease (DED) affects visual function and quality of life. In Gaza, conflict, displacement, environmental exposure, and psychological distress may increase risk, but evidence is limited. This study estimated DED symptom prevalence among adults aged ≥40 years and examined associated factors. METHODS: A community-based cross-sectional convenience sample of 296 adults aged ≥40 years living in houses, shelters, or tents in Gaza was surveyed face-to-face. Arabic OSDI assessed symptoms (≥13) and severe symptoms (≥33). Psychological distress was measured using the Arabic DASS-8.

Lived experiences of displaced pregnant women during armed conflict in Gaza: Implications for trauma-informed maternity care.

INTRODUCTION: Armed conflict disrupts maternity care and exposes pregnant women to substantial physical, psychological, and social risks. Although increasing evidence has documented the effects of armed conflict on maternal health, little is known about the lived experiences of displaced pregnant women during the ongoing armed conflict in Gaza. This study explored the lived experiences of displaced pregnant women living in Gaza. METHODS: A descriptive phenomenological qualitative study was conducted with 25 displaced pregnant women residing in the Gaza Strip. Data were collected through semi-

War's invisible wounds: prevalence and determinants of post-traumatic stress disorder among Gaza women amidst the war: a mixed-method study.

BACKGROUND: The war of 2023-2025 has brought unprecedented devastation to the Gaza Strip, intensifying the psychological toll on the Gazan population. Families were torn apart, and millions were forced to flee their homes. Women in Gaza often carry substantial caregiving responsibilities during war and displacement, which may increase their vulnerability to psychological distress. This study aimed to assess the burden and severity of post-traumatic stress symptoms among displaced women in Gaza and to examine their association with food insecurity, displacement-related conditions, and socioecon

Psychological distress, resilience, and coping among Ukrainian war refugees: cross-national differences across seven European host countries and Ukraine.

INTRODUCTION: Armed conflict and forced displacement pose substantial risks to mental health, yet psychological outcomes among refugees vary considerably across national contexts. Understanding cross-national differences in distress, resilience, and coping is essential for designing effective public health responses to large-scale displacement crises such as the war in Ukraine. This study aimed to identify and compare cross-national differences in psychological distress, resilience, and coping strategies among Ukrainian war refugees residing in seven European host countries and internally disp
