The patient was a woman in her 40s. She had a 13 mm pulmonary tumor in the left upper lobe that was identified on chest computed tomography( CT). Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET)/CT revealed no FDG uptake. Surgery was performed for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. A portion of the tumor was submitted for frozen section diagnosis. No malignant findings were observed, so enucleation was performed. METHODS: A total of 25 cases of PEComa located in various anatomic sites were selected for immunohistochemical staining (SP or EnVision method). TFE3 fluorescence in-situ hybridization was also performed to determine the TFE3 gene status.
