The Impact of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics on Service Access and Engagement.

The mental health system struggles to engage people with severe mental illnesses (SMI) and substance use disorders (SUD) in care. Certified community behavioral health clinics (CCBHCs) are designed to meet service gaps by providing person-centered, comprehensive, coordinated, accessible, and quality care. This study examines the impact of the CCBHC model on access and engagement of service users utilizing administrative data. There was a significant increase in existing and new service users (χ2 = 5.91; p < .05) after the CCBHC implementation and among existing service users with SMI (χ2 = 43.

Filling the gap: equity and access to oral health services for minorities and the underserved.

Family physicians and other primary care providers play a pivotal role in preventing oral disease, especially among minority and underserved populations who have limited access to dental services and poorer oral health status. Oral diseases/conditions, such as caries, baby bottle tooth decay, gingivitis, periodontitis, oral pharyngeal malignancies, and orofacial trauma, are prevalent and costly, yet largely preventable. Given their role in promoting and protecting overall health and their historical role in serving minority and underserved families, family physicians occupy a unique position t

Energy access in Malawian healthcare facilities: consequences for health service delivery and environmental health conditions.

Many healthcare facilities (HCFs) in low-income countries experience unreliable connectivity to energy sources, which adversely impacts the quality of health service delivery and provision of adequate environmental health services. This assessment explores the status and consequences of energy access through interviews and surveys with administrators and healthcare workers from 44 HCFs (central hospitals, district hospitals, health centres and health posts) in Malawi. Most HCFs are connected to the electrical grid but experience weekly power interruptions averaging 10 h; less than one-third of

Mental health services for the deaf: an exploratory study of the aetiology, sources of information, and access to mental health services among deaf persons in Ghana.

BACKGROUND: The global burden of mental health disorders is on the increase, which has contributed to discussions on mitigation strategies. While mental health discourses in respect of access to services are still ongoing, there is limited focus on vulnerable groups. Deaf persons are at risk of exclusion from health services due to their unique modes of communication. In order to advocate for the inclusion of deaf persons in mental health services, there is a need for a study eliciting information on their knowledge about mental health and accessibility to services. METHOD: The study was guid
