A new method was developed to access the uterine cavity in women in whom cervical stenosis precludes hysteroscopic surgery. Thirty-three women with intractable uterine bleeding were chosen to undergo either hysteroscopic myometrial resection or myomectomy. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was carried out on 304 women with intractable uterine bleeding treated between August 1, 1991, and December 31, 1997. The average patient was 41.3 +/- 8.0 years old and was followed for a mean of 31.8 +/- 22.1 months (range 6-75 months).

Symptomatic submucous myomata are now diagnosed and evaluated with hysteroscopy in the office or operating room. Excision under hysteroscopic control using a resectoscope or other equipment and techniques is described and the long term outcome is reported. The hysteroscopic approach to the symptomatic submucous myoma has dramatically changed the treatment options for patients who classically would be offered abdominal myomectomy or hysterectomy.

Endometrial ablation can be performed using a variety of techniques, including resectoscopic or non-resectoscopic approaches. In this study, we compared 2 resectoscopic endometrial ablation techniques. The first technique was rollerball coagulation followed by endometrectomy (type A; n = 103), and the second was the reverse (type B; n = 107). Besides excessive bleeding in 4 cases, the procedures were uneventful in both groups of patients. We did not encounter uterine perforation or cervical laceration. The onset of prolapsing myoma occurred at varying times between completion of UAE and myomectomy, resulting in bacteremia for both patients. A new technology recently appeared for the treatment of endo-uterine pathologies: hysteroscopic morcellators. It seemed to us useful to review this new technology. The morcellator we mostly experiment is the Myosure®, in 14 patients, with a median age of 40.5 years (28-58). The time of procedure went from 5 to 75 min with a median time at 26 min. The median of the total fluid deficit was 300 mL (0-1500 mL). A conversion in traditional resectoscopy happened in 4 cases (29%). This results are not so good as in literature. OBJECTIVE: To assess the feasibility, safety, and reproductive outcome of hysteroscopic metroplasty using the Versapoint device compared with the resectoscope using the Collins loop.
METHODS: Sixty-three women diagnosed with partial septate uterus were included in the study. Forty-two women underwent hysteroscopic metroplasty using Versapoint and 21 women had the procedure using the resectoscope.
