Two antigens of Taenia solium cysticercus, cystic fluid antigen (CFA) and the culture medium antigen (CMA), were used respectively to immunize rabbits in order to obtain immunosera. The CMA immunoserum added to culture medium with cysticerci limited the activities of the bladder worms. By using the scanning electronmicroscope, we could observe particulate deposits on the surface of the scolices, suckers and necks of the worms. In twenty patients with erythema multiforme we investigated circulating immune complexes and their deposition in the skin lesions. CIq-binding activity was elevated in ten of twenty patients, and the platelet aggregation titre was high in three of twelve tested sera. Decreased levels of C3 were seen in two and of C4 in one out of eighteen patients. Level of circulating immune complex (IC) in visceral leishmaniasis is much higher than that in control sera. In immunoblot experiment, treatment of kala-azar IC with patient sera showed at least 6 bands of which the band around 55 kDa region was most prominent. Immune sera from 11 patients cured of amebic liver abscess was used to identify antigens of Entamoeba histolytica. Strain HM1-IMSS, among the most virulent in axenic culture, was used. The 37 and 90 Kd antigens were surface glycoproteins as indicated by lactoperoxidase iodination and by Concanavalin A blotting; the 59 Kd antigen was a mannose containing glycoprotein that did not appear to be on the cell surface. The families of four patients with herpes gestationis (HG) (pemphigoid gestationis) and five patients with polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (PEP) were HLA typed. Anti-HLA-D antibodies in the maternal sera were sought using mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) inhibition test. Two of the four patients with HG had Dw3, one of which was combined with Dw4.
