Meningiomas of the lateral ventricles of the brain are rare tumours with an approximate incidence of 0.5-4.5% among all intracranial meningiomas. Four cases of intraventricular meningioma arising from the trigone are presented. In 1-st case the calcified mass was visible on straight radiographs. In 2-nd and 3-rd cases CT and angiography was performed. In 4-th case MRI and MRA proved to be very useful. The tumours were removed by transcortical approach in the posterior parietal area. The available literature on intraventricular meningiomas has been discussed.

Typing a tumor of the lateral ventricle is often an issue, even for an experienced Neuropathologist. In this location are encountered specific entities, such as neurocytoma and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma, as well as more usual tumors, displaying a common misleading morphology, for instance a main clear cell component. The panel of diagnostic tools given to the pathologists has been increasing for a few years, enriched by immunohistochemical and molecular probes.

We report the case of a man of aged 27 years who presented with obstructive hydrocephalus caused by a colloid cyst of the third ventricle. He was found to have an additional and larger colloid cyst lying adjacent to it, but within the lateral ventricle. The contents of the two cysts were of different consistency. We have been able to find only one previous report of more than one colloid cyst occurring in the same patient and none where one of the cysts lay within the lateral ventricle.

In this study, a computational mapping technique was used to examine the three-dimensional profile of the lateral ventricles in autism. T1-weighted three-dimensional magnetic resonance images of the brain were acquired from 20 males with autism (age: 10.1+/-3.5 years) and 22 male control subjects (age: 10.7+/-2.5 years). The authors report a series of three children with symptomatic congenital arachnoid cyst of the lateral ventricles. Presenting symptoms consisted of macrocephally, delay in psychomotor development, and seizures. CT findings were of a well-defined cystic lesion placed in the atrium of the lateral ventricle. One child was treated by direct cyst exposure and cysto-peritoneal shunt. A case of hemangioblastoma of the right lateral ventricle is presented. Only five other cases of intraventricular hemangioblastoma have been reported. The literature on supratentorial intraventricular hemangioblastoma is reviewed.

The authors present two cases of large meningiomas of the lateral ventricle. In both cases the first diagnosis of the disease was cerebral ischaemia. Tumours did not produce symptome of intracranial hypertension, and the most common symptoms of these tumours - hemianopia and papilloedema - were also not observed. Both tumours did not originate from the choroid plexus, probably developing from the tela conjunctiva of the vessels.
