Lipomas are adipose tumors that are often located in the subcutaneous tissues of the head, neck, shoulders, and back. Lipomas have been identified in all age groups but usually first appear between 40 and 60 years of age. These slow-growing, nearly always benign, tumors usually present as nonpainful, round, mobile masses with a characteristic soft, doughy feel. Rarely, lipomas can be associated with syndromes such as hereditary multiple lipomatosis, adiposis dolorosa, Gardner's syndrome, and Madelung's disease. Among the neoplasias affecting the scrotum and other elements contained within, testicular tumours are the most common; paratesticular neoplasias account for about 2%. 70% of them are benign tumours, lipoma being one the most frequent types. We contribute a new case of paratesticular lipoma in a 45-year old patient, who presented with scrotal complaints. The authors present 6 cases of colonic lipoma, 2 in females and 1 in male, aged between 61-62 years. The benign lipomatous tumour was in all cases unique, located in the right segment of the colon, ileocecal valve, and on the sigmoid once respectively. The right colonic lipomas had clinical signs of intestinal invagination while the sigmoidian one were characterized by abdominal pain and bleeding. The surgical solution consisted in limited ileocecal resection, right hemicolectomy, and segmentary colectomy respectively.

We present a patient with unilateral progressive painless loss of vision leading to optic atrophy and blindness. High-resolution computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated adipose tissue extending from the anterior portion of an enlarged optic canal posteriorly to involve the ipsilateral optic chiasm. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of an intracanalicular lipoma.

Lipomas are benign soft tissue neoplasms, involving the head and neck in roughly 15% of cases. We review a patient who presented with a palpable, anterior neck mass and progressive dysphagia, throat clearing, and dysphonia. He was found to have two simultaneous rare sites for head and neck lipomas: vallecular and intermuscular, anterior neck. Choroid plexus lipomas may be continuous with the midline lesion or discrete, and they may be bilaterally symmetrical of asymmetrical. The case of a 9-month-old infant is presented as an example.

Colonic lipomas are rare benign tumors usually occurring in the ascending colon. We present here a case of giant rectal lipoma measuring 11.5 cm in size with review of the literature. To the best of our knowledge, colonic lipoma exceeding 8.5 cm in size has not been reported previously.

Bladder wall lipoma is a rare finding that includes mature, well-encapsulated fatty tissue within the submucosa of the bladder wall. We present a case of a submucosal bladder wall lipoma that was discovered incidentally during a workup for microhematuria. This lesion was seen during cystoscopy and removed using cold cup biopsy forceps. This lipoma should be differentiated from pelvic lipomatosis in that it was confined to the submucosa of the bladder wall and did not cause compression of the pelvic viscera or its structures.

In spite of being the most frequent tumour in this location, together with adenomatoid tumours, the spermatic cord lipoma is a very rare entity (30-35% each). The etiology is unknown but linked to a constitutional factors, obesity, an its presentation is more frequent in the fifth or sixth decade of life. It progresses always as an asymptomatic tumour, usually unilateral, showing a swift growth to masses larger than 10 cm. Diagnosis is reached by ultrasound and CAT when doubtful, and the histology is confirmed during scrotomy. Tumour resection is the choice treatment. In the case reported here…

We present the case of a 58-year-old man with a history of dysphagia, who was found to have a submucosal lipoma of the hypopharynx. The lesion was removed endoscopically, with resolution of the patient's symptoms. Lipomas are benign fatty neoplasms commonly found in the soft tissues of the neck. Although they are rarely seen in the tissues of the upper aerodigestive tract, they must be considered in the differential diagnosis of hypopharyngeal masses that may cause dysphagia.
