Pain and throbbing of the nipples associated with Raynaud's phenomenon often mimics yeast or fungal infections. Breastfeeding mothers with Raynaud's of the nipples are often treated inappropriately for organisms such as Candida Albicans with topical or systemic antifungal agents. This case report describes the eventual diagnosis of Raynaud's phenomenon of the nipples in a breastfeeding mother who was initially treated for yeast.

We present an 11-year-old girl, with celiac disease, and a 9- month history of itchy and erythemato-edematous lesions with vesicles and exudation on her nipples and areolas. When an ileal loop is used to replace the ureter or to create a urinary pouch, an adequate anti-reflux mechanism is essential. Intussusception of the ileal wall can be used but a proper technique must be chosen to prevent necrosis of the nipple. Good knowledge of the vascularization of the ileal wall is necessary. Leaving a 1-cm strip of mesenterium when stripping it from the ileal wall provides adequate circulation. Nipples of 3 cm or longer are enough to create an anti-reflux mechanism.

A 30-year-old atopic lactating woman developed a peculiar plaquelike dermatitis of nipples and areolae after infection with Staphylococcus aureus. Histologic examination showed an eosinophilic and plasma cellular edematous psoriasiform dermatitis. This constellation of findings seems distinct from other clinicopathologic states induced by staphylococci.

A Jewish Sephardi family is reported in which 16 members are affected (15 females and 1 male) with inverted nipples. The one affected male and his brother also have gynecomastia. Under the assumption that this trait is transmitted as an autosomal dominant, linkage studies were done but were not revealing. Further family and investigative studies are needed in this disorder to understand better its pathogenesis and precise mode of genetic transmission.

A method to reconstruct the breast, nipple, and areola after mastectomy is described. The importance of symmetry is emphasized. A split-skin graft is used to reconstruct both (not one) areolae; this provides almost complete symmetry in terms of size, texture, and color. Ultraviolet light is used postoperatively to hyperpigment the skin-graft areolae, and the long-term appearance has been excellent. The method is quite simple, technically.

Hidradenitis suppurativa and Fox-Fordyce disease are apocrine sweat gland diseases, characterized by chronic and recurrent forms, with frequently unsatisfactory management and physical discomfort. The localisation to the breast areola is well known but infrequent. A new surgical treatment of areolar involvement is presented. This technique includes: dermal detachment of the areola safeguarding the nipple, excision of the underlying apocrine sweat glands, areola fixation like a flap-total skin graft.
