A polarographic investigation of the copper-3-hydroxy-1-p-sulphonatophenyl-3-phenyltriazene (HSPT) complex in 0.05 M sodium tetraborate medium is described and a simple and sensitive single-sweep polarographic method for the determination of trace amounts of copper in biological samples is proposed. The complex was shown to be Cu(HSPT)2 with log beta' = 11.38. Adenylate kinase plays an important role in cellular energy homeostasis by catalysing the interconversion of adenine nucleotides. The polarographic reduction of flutamide was investigated by direct current polarography (DCP), alternating current polarography (ACP), normal pulse polarography (NPP) and differential pulse polarography (DPP). The supporting solution was phosphate buffer containing 5% of 95% ethanol. The reduction process at the dropping mercury electrode was diffusion controlled and irreversible. Extraction with 95% ethanol followed by polarographic reduction was selected as the basis of a method for the determination of flutamide as a pure compound and in tablets.

Twenty-three patients with mitochondrial myopathies and mitochondrial DNA deletions in muscle were studied by means of deletion mapping and sequencing, histochemistry and polarography. Histochemistry showed significantly less focal cytochrome oxidase deficiency relative to number of ragged red fibres when the deletion did not involve reading frames for cytochrome oxidase subunits. Spiramycin (SPY) is a medium-spectrum antibiotic with high effectiveness against Gram-positive bacteria. The voltammetric behaviour of spiramycin was studied using differential pulse polarography (DPP) and square wave polarography (SWP). The report describes a method for the automated polarographic determination of cyanide as tetracyanonickelate (II) anion complex in a gas-diffusion flow system. The volatile cyanide, existing in whole blood, plasma and urine samples, was measured after gas-diffusion using 8 x 10-5 mol l-1 hexaaminenickel solution as acceptor.
