Rosacea fulminans: unusual clinical presentation of rosacea.

Rosacea fulminans or pyoderma faciale is a rare cutaneous disorder that usually affects women usually between the ages of 15-46. The disease is characterized by sudden onset of papules, pustules, cysts, and painful coalescing nodules with red-cyanotic centrofacial erythema. Although its etiology remains unknown, hormonal, immunological, and vascular factors have been reported. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment should minimize unsightly scars. We report a case of a 33-year-old female patient treated with traditional doses of doxycycline, with improvement of the lesions and regression of the …

[Physiopathology of rosacea. Redness, telangiectasia, and rosacea].

The physiopathology of rosacea involves a large number of factors that are at times difficult to correlate. There is not a single physiopathological model. Nevertheless, today it seems to have been established that two essential factors are involved: vascular and inflammatory. The disease occurs in individuals with a predisposition, mainly a light phototype subjected to substantial variations in climate. On a background of primary vascular anomaly, external factors (climate, exposure to ultraviolet rays, cutaneous flora, etc.) contribute to the development of abnormal superficial blood vessels…

Rosacea.

Rosacea is a common cutaneous condition affecting predominantly the face. It is historically characterised into four subtypes: erythematotelangiectatic, papulopustular, phymatous and ocular rosacea. This article describes the pathophysiology, clinical features and current treatment options for rosacea, and discusses updated diagnostic criteria. General guidance is required on the need to avoid possible triggers including dietary and environmental triggers. The strongest evidence supports the use of 0.75% metronidazole, topical azelaic acid or topical ivermectin for inflammatory rosacea. Erythe…

[Rosacea].

Rosacea is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the skin, usually localized on the face. The disease predominantly affects inhabitants of Northern and Western Europe and North America and is rarely found among other ethnic groups. The disease usually starts at the age of 20-30, with visible progression in the next decade of life and full clinical presentation at the age of 40-50. The pathogenesis of rosacea is heterogenic and not fully elucidated. The disease is associated with many different factors. The pathomechanism of the disease is complex and depends on: natural immunity, vascular disturb…

[Rosacea].

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease appearing in the central area of the face of middle-aged patients. It is characterized by flushing, permanent erythema, telangiectasia, papules, pustules, and the absence of comedones. Its underlying pathophysiological mechanisms are not completely understood, although a number of hypotheses point to vascular abnormalities and infection by microorganisms such as Demodex folliculorum. Rosacea is classified into 4 subtypes, which determine the therapeutic approach based on skin care, topical antiinflammatory agents, topical and oral antibiotics and …
