The response of sodium, potassium-adenosine triphosphatase (Na,K-ATPase) to cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)-dependent protein kinase was examined in membranes obtained from rabbit iris-ciliary body. In the presence of the protein kinase together with 10(-5) M cAMP, Na,K-ATPase activity was reduced. No change in Na,K-ATPase activity was detected in response to the protein kinase without added cAMP. Likewise cAMP alone did not alter Na,K-ATPase activity. Ectopic kidney in the thoracic region are infrequent in clinical practice. A 64-year-old man underwent a Rubidium (82Rb) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET-CT) scan for the evaluation of myocardial ischemia due to a diagnosed 2-vessel coronary artery disease. While no myocardial perfusion abnormalities were detected, the scan showed the presence of a diaphragmatic high stand on the right side, with evidence of an ectopic kidney. A 96-well-microplate-based ion flux method utilizing readily available autoradiographic phosphorimaging detection is described. We loaded islets from normal and diabetic Chinese hamsters with 86Rb (an analogue for K+) and measured 86Rb efflux during stimulation with 20 mM D-glucose. The direction of blood flow from the gastric mucosa of the antrum of the rat stomach has been studied using the isotope Rb86Cl. In a series of five experiments radioactivity has been shown to be transported via the blood stream from the antrum to the parietal cell mass without passing through the general circulation first. It is suggested that a 'portal' or direct transport system from antral mucosa to the body of the stomach exists.

Fragments of rat submandibular gland were loaded with 86Rb+ and superfused so that the rate of 86Rb(+)-efflux could be quantified as an indicator of potassium permeability. Acetylcholine evoked an increase in permeability consisting of a transient, calcium-independent response and a sustained, calcium-dependent. Vertical osteotomies were performed in the mandibles of rats and combined with elevations of the buccal or bilateral mucoperiosteal pedicles. Isotope fractionation and particle distribution were used to measure blood flow in the distal and proximal segments of the mandible, the masseter muscle and the submandibular gland. Immune-related myocarditis may be challenging. We report the case of a 66-year-old man with a history of treated multiple myeloma by using immune checkpoint blockers, referred for angina. Coronary angiography was normal. [ 82 Rb]Rubidium PET/CT found diffuse abnormal stress myocardial blood flow and reserve and the apparition of epicardial calcifications. [ 68 Ga]Ga-DOTATOC PET/CT and CMR revealed chronic calcified myocarditis, which was confirmed by histology. This case emphasizes microvascular dysfunction in chronic active myocarditis as assessed by perfusion PET/CT.

These isolated cells were used to measure uptake of the radioactive tracer 86Rb as an index of changes in K+ content. There was time-dependent tracer uptake in the absence of secretagogue in both one-day-old and adult cells. Kinetic analysis of this uptake revealed two components, a fast one during the first 5 min of incubation and a slower one between 5 and 30 min.
