INTRODUCTION: Estrogen's broad trophic effects on anterior pituitary function are not fully understood. The compound 4-vinyl cyclohexene diepoxide (VCD) induces early ovarian failure and reduced E2 production, which may differentially affect anterior pituitary cells.
