First-line anti-tubercular therapy (ATT) is very effective in management of tuberculosis and is usually well tolerated. Varied spectrum of cutaneous adverse drug reactions is associated with ATT, of which lichenoid drug eruption (LDR) constitutes approximately 10% of the cases. However, LDR presenting as erythroderma is very rare. Here, we report a case of exfoliative dermatitis secondary to LDR which developed after 5 months of ATT.

Lichen planus is not usually associated with malignancy and an association with carcinoid tumour has not been previously described. We now describe a patient in whom lichen planus and a carcinoid tumour presented simultaneously. In this case report, gastrointestinal symptoms of a small intestinal carcinoid tumour coincided with the appearance of a rash which progressed from a generalized exfoliative dermatitis to extensive lichen planus.

BACKGROUND: Cutaneous epitheliotropic T-cell lymphoma is a malignant tumour of the skin already reported in humans, dogs, cats, horses, and other species, but not previously in donkeys. The standard diagnosis is based on clinical, morphological and immunophenotypic data. Differentiation of malignant versus benign proliferation of lymphocytes is crucial; in ambiguous cases T-cell receptor gamma (TRG) molecular clonality should be tested. In the present paper, we report a case of mycosis fungoides diagnosed in a donkey whose diagnosis was based on clinical, histological and immunohistochemical a

A retrospective light-microscopic study was performed on 294 biopsy specimens of haired skin from cats with various feline inflammatory dermatoses and specimens from cats with normal skin. Conditions expected to frequently have apoptotic epidermal keratinocytes (AKs) (including erythema multiforme, systemic lupus erythematosus, thymoma-associated exfoliative dermatitis, solar dermatitis, and viral dermatopathies) were found to have significantly more AKs than other types of inflammatory dermatoses. Nevertheless, we found more than two AKs in many skin-biopsy specimens from inflammatory conditi

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease, usually associated with a personal or family history of atopic diseases such as AD, allergic rhinitis or asthma that most commonly arise in childhood and present with elevated IgE serum in up to 85% of patients. The severity of AD is based on the extent of affected areas, itch intensity and appearance of skin lesions. Here, we present the case of a 21-year-old female patient with generalized erythematous eczematous skin lesions, flexural lichenifications accompanied by intense pruritus, painful fissures and erosions resulting from scratching

Three patients who received etretinate, two for psoriasis vulgaris and one for exfoliative dermatitis, developed clinical and electromyographic features of muscle damage during treatment. In one patient histological and ultrastructural findings indicated segmental muscle necrosis. Withdrawal of the drug led to clinical recovery and normalization of muscle enzyme levels and electromyogram. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report to show etretinate-induced reversible skeletal muscle damage.

Seborrheic dermatitis was diagnosed in an adult, rhesus monkey presenting with erythematous, exfoliative and focally exudative skin lesions distributed over the perioral, perirhinal and brow regions of the face. Similar areas of involved skin also were observed on the extremities. Lesions appeared to be exacerbated during increased experimental utilization. Histopathologic changes in skin biopsy specimens of affected skin included acanthosis, parakeratosis, spongiotic edema, vascular ectasia, and mild lymphohistiocytic infiltrates.

Netherton syndrome (NS) is a severe autosomal recessive disorder characterized by the triad of congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma, trichorrhexis invaginata, and atopic diathesis. We report two cases that experienced severe congenital exfoliative dermatitis, recurrent infections, and allergic conditions. Examinations of hair under the light microscope revealed trichorrhexis invaginata. Whole exome sequencing identified homologous pathogenic mutations of SPINK5. Optimal skincare and proper nutritional support could improve patients' quality of life.

We report a case of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) treated with pirfenidone who developed tuberculosis (TB) and later had exfoliative dermatitis secondary to an interaction between pirfenidone and rifampicin. This case report highlights the possible risk of developing TB in patients diagnosed with IPF and on antifibrotic therapy like pirfenidone. Furthermore, this case report documents a previously unreported adverse reaction due to the interaction of rifampicin with pirfenidone.

A case report, the clinical features, and a histopathological report in one case of Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) is reported. This patient had exfoliative dermatitis, urticaria and angiodema. She had received treatment with steroids which showed improvement and recurrence after stopping steroid therapy. Unique feature of this case was that skin eruptions were the main presentation. Skin eruptions may be the only manifestation of otherwise asymptomatic patient of HES.
