OBJECTIVES: We aimed to assess the therapeutic effects of a topical probiotic nano-formulation derived from Lactobacillus reuteri on treating recurrent aphthous stomatitis.

This paper presents a facile approach to develop palygorskite (Pal), a fibrous clay mineral, as a delivery system of tea tree oil (TTO) for topical acne therapy. The obtained TTO-Pal composite showed an efficient loading of TTO (27.4%) with a selective accumulation of terpine-4-ol and 1,8-cineole (two major antimicrobial TTO constituents), sustained release of TTO at skin physiological conditions (pH5.4, 32 °C) and superior skin sebum (2.2 g/g) absorbability. Over the past decade, atropine has emerged as an effective intervention for preventing myopia in children. Multiple randomized controlled trials, mainly from Asia, have demonstrated the safety and efficacy of topical atropine for myopia control. Both efficacy and side effects exhibit a positive dose-response relationship. This review focuses on new data from studies with predominantly white populations, ethnicity-dependent differences in efficacy and side effects, and primary prevention of incident myopia with atropine.

A topical mucoadhesive dosage form was developed for the treatment of infectious oral cavity diseases, consisting of a paste based on a combination of a complex immunoglobulin preparation (CIP) and interferon alpha-2b. CIP within the final formulation demonstrated robust antimicrobial activity against key oral pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus intermedius, and Fusobacterium nucleatum). An optimal composition was selected that exhibited optimal mucoadhesion and a mucosal retention time of at least 90 min. The final formulation produced no local irritant effects.

While ulcerative lichen planus is a common diagnosis when involving the mucosa, it is uncommonly found on the cutaneous surface. Cutaneous ulcerative lichen planus is usually found on the palmar or plantar surfaces and has only rarely been described elsewhere. We describe a case of cutaneous ulcerative lichen planus involving the pretibia and exhibiting pathergy, which to our knowledge has not been previously reported. We also describe successful treatment with oral acitretin in conjunction with topical and intralesional corticosteroids.
