The purpose of this study was to evaluate midterm outcomes after both bone forearm fractures. A retrospective review of patients treated with open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) at three level 1 trauma centers was completed. Eligible patients were sent three questionnaires: Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH), Short Form-12 (SF-12), and questions about postinjury experience. BACKGROUND: Descriptions of fracture healing almost exclusively deal with shaft fractures and they often emphasize endochondral bone formation. In reality, most fractures occur in metaphyseal cancellous bone. Apart from a study of vertebral fractures, we have not found any histological description of cancellous bone healing in humans.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We studied histological biopsies from the central part of 12 distal radial fractures obtained during surgery 6-28 days after the injury, using routine hematoxylin and eosin staining.

BACKGROUND: Fractures are an important cause of morbidity in hemodialysis patients. Multiple advances in the treatment of mineral and bone disease in hemodialysis patients have occurred. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the rate of fractures in hemodialysis patients has changed over time.
METHODS: We studied US Renal Data System (USRDS) datasets to determine the rates of hospitalized fractures among hemodialysis patients. The primary outcome was incidence of fractures requiring hospitalization. The fracture rate per 1000 person-years was calculated by year from 1992 to 2009.

Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) is associated with an increased fracture risk, and decreased bone density thus has been considered an indication for surgery. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: The authors present a method of the functional treatment of fractures of the humeral shaft at their department. They document its results on a group of 32 patients.
MATERIAL: The described method was used between 1992 and 2000 in 36 patients. Evaluation covered 32 patients. This study has described the UCLA experience over a 5 year period in the treatment of secondary traumatic deformities utilizing the craniofacial techniques originally proposed by Tessier. Fracture of the scaphoid bone is the most common fracture of the carpal bones (Dunn 1972). Primary diagnosis can be difficult, and misdiagnosis with subsequent inadequate treatment often results in a permanently painful wrist with reduced function of the hand. Patients having pelvic fractures make 5% of all patients over 60 years of age with bone fractures. Transport traumas (traffic accidents) are predominating. Of 63 persons shock of a different degree due to massive intratissue blood loss was observed in 17. Three objects from this group died as a result of uncompensated shock (1) and septic complications (2). Forty six patients were admitted in a satisfactory condition, three of them died from concomitant complications (pneumonia, diabetic coma).
