BACKGROUND: Rudimentary uterine horn pregnancy is a very rare condition. Removal of a rudimentary horn is required as soon as a pregnancy is confirmed because most pregnancies in a rudimentary uterine horn rupture in the first or second trimester.
CASE: A 22-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital because an ectopic pregnancy was suggested by ultrasonographic examination at another hospital. BACKGROUND: Müllerian ducts fuse in the midline to form the uterus at about 10 weeks' gestation. Rudimentary horn pregnancies are unusual occurrences.
CASE: A 34-year-old woman presented at 24 weeks' gestation for prenatal care. Rudimentary horn pregnancy was diagnosed. Shortly afterwards the patient developed an acute abdomen, followed by emergency delivery. Though the risks of complications were high, none occurred.
CONCLUSION: The incidence of rudimentary horn pregnancy is 1/100,000-150,000. Surgery is the treatment of choice. The prognosis is poor.

INTRODUCTION: The basis of focal muscle wasting in Japanese encephalitis (JE) has not been systemically studied.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Twelve patients with JE were subjected to clinical evaluation, nerve conduction, electromyography (EMG), motor and somatosensory evoked potentials and cranial CT or MRI scans. Spinal MRI was carried out in selected patients. The clinical and the neurophysiological examination were repeated after 3 months. Recovery was defined as poor, partial and complete.

Six patients (ages ranging from 19 days to 58 years: three females and three males) with frontal horn coarctations are included into this study. Four of these six patients were found during our consecutive evaluation of 1022 cranial MR imaging examinations, obtained on a 0.5 Tesla unit. The condition was compared with ependymitis granularis. Pregnancy in a rudimentary uterine horn is rare and is usually associated with fetal death and serious maternal morbidity or mortality. A case is presented of such a pregnancy associated with a high maternal serum alpha feto-protein presenting as an acute emergency at 29 weeks' gestation resulting in fetal salvage.

A model of tuboplasty with the use of biologic glues (FK) and microsuturing material was created in experiments with 63 rats. Clinically commercial fibrin glue Beriplast FK manufactured by Bering (Germany) and FK-1 (USSR) were used in 15 patients during various gynecologic operations. Incontinentia pigmenti (IP) has been associated with CNS involvement, including seizures, retardation, motor abnormalities, and malformations in greater than 30% of patients.
