The retinopathy (microaneurysm/small dot hemorrhage) is an early and specific biological indicator to quantitatively evaluate the CS2 exposure. The appearance of retinal lesions was observed among Yugoslavian, German and American workers exposed to CS2. However, among Finnish CS2 workers a positive result was not obtained. Trachoma remains the major infectious cause of blindness in many developing areas, especially where hygiene is poor. The practices and behaviors associated with an increased risk of trachoma were studied in central Tanzania, where a stratified random cluster sample of 8409 people was examined. Data were collected on family and individual characteristics and behaviors and on trachoma status. We examined 1316 pupils, average age 16.6 years, in a small town in Serbia.
