BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to propose a new method for imaging the uterine cavity and Fallopian tube patency by three-dimensional dynamic magnetic resonance hysterosalpingography (3D dMR-HSG) and to analyse if, by using a higher viscosity contrast solution, direct visualization of the Fallopian tubes may be achieved by this new technique.
METHODS: 10 consecutive infertile women underwent 3D dMR-HSG and conventional HSG as gold standard. 3D dMR-HSG consisted of injection of 20 ml of a gadolinium-polyvidone solution into the uterine cavity while acquiring five consecutive three-d

Background/Objectives: Tubal dysfunction may be a contributing factor in up to 35% of infertility cases, rendering tubal patency assessment a vital component of the infertility workup. In this review we examined the diagnostic efficacy and tolerability of hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) and compared it to hysterosalpingography (HSG) and hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (HyCoSy). Methods: Online databases were systematically searched and evaluated according to the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Statistical heterogeneity was assessed. Diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and inter-method agr

PURPOSE: To investigate the clinical value of hysteroscopy with chromopertubation (HSC) in infertile patients with hysterosalpingography (HSG) evidence of abnormal tubal patency.
METHODS: The study consisted of 296 patients. HSG was performed as a preliminary test for the evaluation of fallopian tube status. Patients who desired to conceive naturally were treated with HSC in the next month or followed-up without additional treatment. The primary outcome was natural clinical pregnancy within 12 months after the procedure.
RESULTS: In total, the number of clinical pregnancies was estimated to

OBJECTIVES: To compare the diagnostic performance for tubal patency by chromopertubation and hysterosalpingography in the female infertile patients.
METHODS: We prospectively evaluated 103 female patients (age range 19-35 years; mean age 27.60 years) diagnosed as infertile, underwent hysterosalpingography (HSG) for tubal patency and uterine pathology during initial diagnostic work-up. All the enlisted patients fulfilled the criteria of infertility and these also underwent hysterolaparoscopic chromopertubation (CPT). The results of HSG were compared with the reference standard using CPT.

Traditionally, a diagnosis of unexplained infertility is established only when all standard clinical investigations yield normal results. When tubal patency has been established by hysterosalpingography (HSG), laparoscopy has been suggested as a mandatory step to preclude the existence of peritubal adhesions and endometriosis as causes of infertility. In women without a previous history suggestive of tubal disease and who have a normal HSG, it was demonstrated that the probability of clinically relevant tubal disease or endometriosis is very low and that laparoscopy does not seem justified or

BACKGROUND: Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the most frequently used diagnostic measure for simultaneously determining uterine abnormalities and tubal status among subfertile women. Despite several broader advantages such as availability and increased experience, the subjectivity involved during administration of the HSG procedure itself, and necessary imaging review, decreases the reliability and accuracy of HSG. In this study, we evaluated the time intervals between X-ray imaging during HSG procedure to establish the presence of distal tubal occlusion.
METHODS: Our study evaluated the HSG re

Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the first-line investigation in infertility assessment to assess tubal patency. Clinicians use various instruments, including the Leich-Wilkinson cannula, Rubin cannula, Jorcho's cannula, Whitehead cannula, and foley's catheter, to instill the dye in the uterus. We randomly allocated 60 patients planned for hysterosalpingography to evaluate tubal patency as part of fertility workup to either Intra-uterine foley's catheter arm or Leich-Wilkinson cannula arm. The research team measured and compared immediate and delayed numerical pain scores in both arms. We observ

BACKGROUND: Pain, anxiety, and distress are common in radiological investigations including hysterosalpingogram (HSG). Studies suggest that sedation allows patients to better tolerate diagnostic imaging and image-guided procedures by relieving anxiety, discomfort, and pain. This study aimed at assessing the safety and effectiveness of ketamine use in HSG and the proportion of true positive bilateral tubal blockage during HSG using the Jimah Procedure.
METHODS: We performed repeated HSG workup under IV ketamine (20-40 mg/mL) sedation for 27 infertile women at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

The aim of this study was to assess patient tolerance of two outpatient tests. Sixty-six infertile women were prospectively randomized to hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (HyCoSy) (n = 34) or X-ray hysterosalpingography (HSG) (n = 32). The procedures were performed by the same operator. The uterine cavity outline and tubal patency were determined by both procedures. The mean times taken and the volume of contrast medium required for HyCoSy and HSG were similar: 12.1 +/- 5.2 and 9.5 +/- 4.8 min and 9.4 +/- 5.2 and 11.5 +/- 8.4 ml, respectively. Side-effects were assessed during the procedure

Hysterosalpingography is the gold standard in assessing the patency of the fallopian tubes, which is among the most common causes of female factor infertility, making this technique the most frequent first-choice imaging modality in the assessment of female infertility. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging are typically used for evaluation of indeterminate or complicated cases of female infertility and presurgical planning. Imaging also plays a role in the detection of the secondary causes of ovarian factor infertility, including endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
