BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Dental nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary instruments are widely used in endodontic therapy because they are efficient with a higher success rate. However, an unpredictable fracture of instruments may happen due to the surface characteristics of imperfection (or irregularity). This study assessed whether a novel surface treatment could increase fatigue fracture resistance of dental NiTi rotary instruments.

The effect of human fibrin adhesive applied to the middle ear has been studied in guinea pig. Auditory function was measured using acoustically evoked brainstem responses. Middle and inner ear structures were studied with light, transmission and scanning electron microscopy. A transitory conductive hearing loss was observed, but after 8 weeks the auditory function appeared normal. Microscopy of the middle and inner ear failed to show any tissue damage.

An asymptomatic adult female rabbit had intestinal cryptosporidiosis. The ileum had blunted villi, a decrease in villus-crypt ratio and a mild edema in the lamina propria.
