A 21-year-old man, who had suddenly developed dyspnea with sneeze, cough and nasal congestion following supper, was admitted to our hospital because of hypoxemia and hypercapnia. Physical examination revealed wheezing in all lung fields and skin flushing. He took home-made Okonomi-yaki made from flour, which had been opened few months ago, and then had been remained uncooked at room temperature. Skin prick tests showed positive for problem flour and mite, but negative for just opened control flour. Collectively, we gave his diagnosis of anaphylaxis caused by mite-contaminated Okonomi-yaki.

We describe here the first documented case in Austria of the cattle ear mite Raillietia auris in a four-year-old dairy cow. The cow was mildly depressed, and keratoconjunctivitis was diagnosed in both eyes with Horner's syndrome in the left eye. This study reports a 12-year-old girl who developed an anaphylactic reaction following snail ingestion during house dust mite (HDM) immunotherapy treatment. Radioallergosorbent (RAST) inhibition showed cross-reactivity between the two allergens, leading to consideration of HDM as the sensitizing agent. Children undergoing HDM immunotherapy treatment should be aware of the potential risks of hypersensitivity reactions to invertebrate foods.

An extract prepared from 200 adult female scabies mites was used for prick and intracutaneous testing in twelve patients with previous scabies infestation, as well as in six healthy controls and three persons with skin sensitivity to Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus who had never had scabies before. Thirty-four young range cattle heavily infested with the common scabies mite, Psoroptes ovis, were dipped in phosmet (O,O-dimethyl phosphorodithioate S-ester with N-(mercaptomethyl)phthalimide) in 15 trials. A trial of the effects of measures designed to reduce exposure to house-dust mites was performed on 14 children with mite-sensitive asthma. These measures reduced mite infestation of the beds and were associated with clinical improvement of asthmatic symptoms. Acarine infestations of the dog and cat are transmissible to man. The relation between age incidence in the host, duration of disease, and circumstances under which the animal is kept are stated. Fifty out of 65 human contacts at risk to 42 infected dogs and cats showed lesions of mite infestation; 48% of these lesions were confined to the arms and torso.It is important to consider animal mite infestation in the differential diagnosis of human pruritic and papular skin disease.

Shrimp tropomyosin has a similar structure to house dust mite (HDM) tropomyosin. In this research, 232 adult patients with symptoms of persistent allergic rhinitis were randomly selected. The allergenic load of house dust mite allergy is largely constituted by a few proteins with a hierarchical pattern of allergenicity. The serodominant specificities are the group 1&2 and the group 23 faecal allergens.
