Measurement of the limiting equivalent conductivities and mobilities of the most prevalent ionic species of EGTA (EGTA2- and EGTA3-) for use in electrophysiological experiments.

In many experimental biological situations, chelating agents like EGTA (ethylene glycol-bis-(beta-amino-ethyl ether) N,N,N',N'-tetra-acetic acid) are commonly used to control or suppress the concentration of divalent ions like Ca2+. The evaluation of liquid junction potentials in electrophysiological measurements, and particularly in patch-clamp situations, requires information about the ions within the solution. Where there is a significant concentration of EGTA present, it is necessary to know the values of the relative mobility of at least the most predominant ionic species of EGTA in order

Spinal mobility and functional limitations in patients with diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis compared to healthy controls and patients with axial spondyloarthritis.

BACKGROUND: Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH) is characterised by ossification of the spine including the anterior longitudinal ligament. While often still considered a pure radiographic finding, recent evidence suggests relevant impairments in physical functioning. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate spinal mobility and functional limitations in DISH compared with radiographic (r-) and non-radiographic (nr-) axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and healthy controls (HCs). METHODS: Consecutive patients and HCs were assessed regarding mobility, including the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology

Low appendicular skeletal muscle mass (ASM) with limited mobility and poor health outcomes in middle-aged African Americans.

BACKGROUND: Recent efforts to provide a consensus definition propose that sarcopenia be considered a clinical syndrome associated with the loss of both skeletal muscle mass and muscle function that occurs with aging. Validation of sarcopenia definitions that include both low muscle mass and poor muscle function is needed. METHODS: In the population-based African American Health (AAH) study (N = 998 at baseline/wave 1), muscle mass and mobility were evaluated in a clinical testing center in a subsample of N = 319 persons (ages 52-68) at wave 4 (2004). Muscle mass was measured using dual energy

Indirect Detection of Novichok Nerve Agents A-230, A-232, and A-234 by Ion Mobility Spectrometry: Limitations of Hydrolysis-Based Marker Strategies.

Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is widely used for on-site detection of chemical warfare agents due to its high sensitivity and rapid response times. While volatile G-series nerve agents can be detected directly in the gas phase, detection of low-volatility agents such as VX or A-series nerve agents (Novichoks) is considerably more challenging. For VX, indirect detection is often achieved through the volatile hydrolysis product VX-thiol, which can dominate the vapor phase above VX samples. Whether comparable volatile marker compounds exist for A-series agents has remained largely unexplored. I

Derived hematological indices during peripheral blood stem cell mobilization in the plerixafor era: insightful dynamics but limited predictive value.

INTRODUCTION: Derived hematological indices reflect immune activation, but their dynamics during the plerixafor era and their predictive value for stem cell yield remain unclear. OBJECTIVES: To assess changes in derived hematological inflammatory markers during peripheral blood stem cell mobilization in autologous patients and allogeneic donors, and to evaluate their correlation with CD34+ stem cell yield. These markers include ratios (neutrophil-to-lymphocyte, platelet-to-lymphocyte and lymphocyte-to-monocyte), and composite indices (systemic immune-inflammation and systemic inflammation res

Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria Mobilize Nano-Hydroxyapatite In Vitro with Limited Transferability to Maize (Zea mays L.) Phosphorus Nutrition in Soil.

Limited phosphate rock resources and inefficient phosphorus (P) fertilization challenge sustainable crop production. Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA) serves as a model for poorly soluble calcium phosphates relevant to recycled P fertilizers. We tested whether phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) enhance P mobilization from nHA and maize (Zea mays L.) nutrition under moderate-temperature conditions. In vitro assays evaluated six bacterial strains and organic acid (OA)-mediated P mobilization; a climate-chamber pot experiment tested nHA, PSB, and their combinations under low and moderate P supply.
