Impact of sleep quality on work-related musculoskeletal disorders among nurses: a structural equation model integrating psychosocial factors.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are highly prevalent among nurses and threaten workforce stability. Although sleep disturbance is known to be associated with WMSDs, the psychosocial pathways underlying this relationship remain poorly understood. This study aims to examine whether sense of agency and perceived social support mediate the relationship between sleep quality and WMSDs among hospital nurses, using a structural equation modeling approach. METHODS: A convenience sample of staff nurses was recruited from six tertiary hospitals in three Chinese

Work-Related Information and Communication Technologies Use After-Hours and Nurse Work Withdrawal Behavior: A Moderated Mediation Model.

BACKGROUND: The widespread adoption of information technology made the work-related use of information and communication technologies after hours (W_ICTs) a prevalent source of occupational stress among nurses. Grounded in conservation of resources theory and the effort-recovery model, this study constructed a moderated mediation model to examine the impact of W_ICTs on nurses' work withdrawal behavior, with a specific focus on the mediating role of job burnout and the moderating role of psychological detachment. METHODS: Using a cross-sectional design, data were collected through an online s

A structured communication model for advance care planning in Chinese oncology nursing: a mixed-methods participatory action research study.

BACKGROUND: Despite the global recognition of advance care planning as a critical component of patient-centred end-of-life care, its implementation remains challenged by skill-based deficiencies (e.g., inadequate training), cultural and communication barriers, and system-level structural impediments within healthcare settings. This study aimed to develop and implement a structured advance care planning communication model to improve nurses' communication practices and facilitate patient engagement in end-of-life care discussions. METHODS: A participatory action research design with embedded m

Narrative review comparing palliative care models in primary and community care settings: For a better integration of nurses' activities and skills.

The World Health Organization highlights significant disparities in access to palliative care (PC), especially in primary and community care. In France, ASALEE is an innovative national association that brings nurses and general practitioners in primary and community care. Initially created to address the support needs of patients living with chronic diseases, the nurses' roles have expanded to include PC. However, despite the growing role of such interprofessional models, research on PC nurses' activities and skills in primary and community care are underdeveloped. To identify, categorize, co

From isolation to connection: A nursing model for AI-enhanced mental health crisis management in rural Chinese adolescent communities.

This paper presents a conceptual nursing model that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance mental health crisis management for rural Chinese adolescent communities. Addressing the critical gap between isolation and therapeutic connection, this nursing-led framework responds to escalating mental health crises among rural Chinese adolescents, characterized by elevated suicide rates and severely limited access to professional psychiatric nursing support. The model positions psychiatric nurses as central coordinators who utilize AI-enhanced tools for early crisis detection

Effectiveness of a 7E teaching model based on symptom management theory in new nurse induction training: a quasi-experimental study.

BACKGROUND: Newly graduated nurses (NGNs) often lack dynamic symptom assessment and management skills, a core competency deficit that increases adverse event risks and transition shock. Traditional training methods frequently fail to bridge this theory-practice gap. AIM: To evaluate the effectiveness of a novel teaching model, integrating the 7E learning cycle with Symptom Management Theory (SMT), on the competencies and clinical outcomes of NGNs. STUDY DESIGN: A quasi-experimental design with pre-/post-test assessments at three time points (T0, T1, and T2) was employed. SETTINGS: A tertiary h

Effect of a nurse-led, triangle-based hierarchical management model on patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis: A randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) imposes a high disease burden, leading to diminished quality of life (QoL) and poor treatment adherence. Conventional nursing often lacks individualized, risk-stratified strategies. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a nurse-led, Triangle-Based Hierarchical Management model on patient outcomes. METHODS: In this prospective, single-center, cluster-randomized trial, 80 MHD patients were assigned to an observation group (n = 40) receiving the 24-week Triangle model intervention or a control group (n = 40) receiving routine care. The prima

Detecting Sociodemographic Biases in the Content and Quality of Large Language Model-Generated Nursing Care: Cross-Sectional Simulation Study.

BACKGROUND: Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly applied in health care. However, concerns remain that their nursing care recommendations may reflect patients' sociodemographic attributes rather than clinical needs. While this risk is acknowledged, there is a lack of empirical evidence evaluating sociodemographic bias in LLM-generated nursing care plans. OBJECTIVE: To investigate potential biases in nursing care plans generated by LLMs, we focused on whether outputs differ systematically based on patients' sociodemographic characteristics and assessed the implications for equitable n
