Panax-derived Zingibroside R1 exerts allelopathic effects on root architecture by modulating the auxin transport pathway and oxidative stress responses.

The triterpenoid-rich Panax spp. possess notable allelopathic capabilities, yet current knowledge lacks comprehensive understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying these inhibitory effects. Here, we show that zingibroside R1 (ZR1), a newly identified allelochemical from Panax spp., inhibits the adventitious root growth in ginseng and primary root elongation in Arabidopsis. Mechanistic analyses revealed that ZR1 disrupts auxin transport, as evidenced by monitoring DR5::GFP and PINs markers. The effect of ZR1 on auxin transport was further elucidated through synergistic effects observed …

Panax notoginseng Saponins Attenuate Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury by Suppressing Neutrophil Extracellular Traps and Ferroptosis in Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells.

Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS), the chief saponin components of the traditional Chinese medicine Panax notoginseng, are known to ameliorate the outcomes of ischemic stroke (IS), primarily by mitigating inflammatory responses, enhancing microcirculation, and modulating oxidative stress. Damage to brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs) and BMECs' ferroptosis are critical steps in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI), a process in which neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been shown to induce BMECs injury, thereby aggravating CIRI. We aimed to investigate the regulatory eff…

ATP-Sensitive Potassium Channels Mediate the Cardioprotective Effect of Panax notoginseng Saponins against Myocardial Ischaemia-Reperfusion Injury and Inflammatory Reaction.

Inflammatory response during myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury (MIRI) is essential for cardiac healing, while excessive inflammation extends the infarction and promotes adverse cardiac remodeling. Understanding the mechanism of these uncontrolled inflammatory processes has a significant impact during the MIRI therapy. Here, we found a critical role of ATP-sensitive potassium channels (KATP) in the inflammatory response of MIRI and its potential mechanism and explored the effects of Panax Notoginseng Saponins (PNS) during this possess. Rats underwent 40 min ischemia by occlusion of the lef…

Panax notoginseng saponins stimulates the differentiation and neurite development of C17.2 neural stem cells against OGD/R injuries via mTOR signaling.

Ischemic stroke remains a major disease worldwide, and most stroke patients often suffer from serious sequelae. Endogenous neurogenesis matters in the repair and regeneration of impaired neural cells after stroke. We have previously reported in vivo that PNS could strengthen the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells (NSCs), modulate synaptic plasticity and protect against ischemic brain injuries in cerebral ischemia rats, which could be attributed to mTOR signaling activation. Next, to obtain further insights into the function mechanism of PNS, we evaluated the direct influenc

Detection and cross-organ characterization of physiological response to microplastic stress in Panax ginseng based on hyperspectral imaging assisted with machine learning.

Microplastic pollution can affect growth and quality of medicinal plants, yet rapid detection of microplastic stress responses remains underexplored. We treated ginseng with polyethylene microplastics, acquired leaf hyperspectral images (HSI) on day 23, and constructed machine learning models for identifying stress levels and predicting physiological indicators. Furthermore, the applicability of successive projections algorithm (SPA) and competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) for characteristic wavelength selection was compared. Results showed that polyethylene stress significantly af
