Impact of early minimal residual disease assessment on the outcomes of patients with systemic light chain amyloidosis.

BACKGROUND: Systemic light chain (AL) amyloidosis is associated with a high mortality rate, particularly in the first year after diagnosis. Minimal residual disease (MRD) assessment plays a key role in the prognosis of AL amyloidosis but is typically performed later in the treatment process, thereby limiting its ability to guide early interventions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study included 53 newly diagnosed AL amyloidosis patients who underwent MRD assessment via flow cytometry after two chemotherapy cycles. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of early MRD negativi

Patient-Reported Outcome Measure of Ataxia Correlates with Canonical Clinical Assessments in Chinese Spinocerebellar Ataxias.

Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) patients' reports of their own experiences are essential to the outcome evaluation in clinical trials. To better understand the health condition and well-being of ataxia population, Patient-Reported Outcome Measure of Ataxia (PROM-Ataxia) was developed. The aim of our study was to culturally adapt the PROM-Ataxia into Chinese version and assess its correlation with canonical clinical assessments. We translated the PROM-Ataxia into Chinese following the ISPOR TCA Task Force guidelines and evaluated its correlation with measures of motor ataxia, non-ataxia signs, qua

Strategies to Improve Outcomes of Bullous Pemphigoid: A Comprehensive Review of Clinical Presentations, Diagnosis, and Patients' Assessment.

Bullous pemphigoid (BP) is the most frequent autoimmune bullous disease mainly affecting elderlies. Diagnosis usually results from clinical features, histological examination, and the quantification of circulating typical autoantibodies, due to its higher incidence in elderly patients, bullous pemphigoid treatment and management still represents a challenge due to the higher frequency of several comorbidities in this group of patients, which may also be linked to a reduced tolerance to BP treatments. Hence, an early diagnosis and a prompt correct treatment are mandatory to reach better clinica
