Gender and Patient Satisfaction in a Veterans Health Administration Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit.

BACKGROUND: Our objective was to explore whether differences in patient satisfaction based on gender exist at the Veterans Affairs Portland Health Care System (VAPHCS) outpatient chemotherapy infusion unit. METHODS: Veterans who received outpatient infusion treatments at the VAPHCS outpatient chemotherapy infusion unit from 2018 to 2020 were invited to take an anonymous survey. Response differences were analyzed using Fisher exact and Welch t tests. Male and female patient lists were first generated based on Computerized Patient Record System designation, then defined and results reported bas…

Good patient satisfaction with low complications rate after trochleoplasty in patellofemoral instability.

PURPOSE: Trochlear dysplasia has been recognized as the most common factor in patients with patellofemoral dislocation. Trochleoplasty is a … eful patient selection, detailed knowledge, and surgical skills to avoid severe complications. Good patient satisfaction with a low risk of significant complications such as patellofemoral arthritis has been revealed. In conclusion, trochleoplasty should be systematically included in the treatment of patellar dislocation, if indicated. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: V.

Hearing outcomes and patient satisfaction after stapes surgery: local versus general anaesthesia.

OBJECTIVE: Otosclerosis is a frequent ear disorder causing a stapedo-ovalar ankylosis and conductive hearing loss. Stapedoplasty, performed under both general (GA) and local anaesthesia (LA), is the most advisable surgical solution. Auditory recovery relies on the patient's conditions and on the intervention itself. The aim of our work was to compare hearing outcomes with stapedoplasty performed under GA or LA and to investigate patients' compliance to both methods. METHODS: Fifty-five otosclerotic patients underwent stapedoplasty both under GA (32/55) and LA (23/55). Pre- and post-operative

Flash Glucose Monitoring and Patient Satisfaction: A Meta-Review of Systematic Reviews.

Flash glucose monitoring (FGM) systems have been suggested to have clinical beneficial effects in patients with diabetes mellitus, although their improvements in terms of quality of life (QoL) and patients' satisfaction are not always addressed or are considered a secondary outcome. Thus, the aim of this meta-review is to establish the benefits of FGM in terms of patients' satisfaction and QoL in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients using evidence from past systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Major databases were searched for systematic reviews (with or without meta-analyses) that assess

Patient Perception and Satisfaction With Insulin Pump System: Pilot User Experience Survey.

BACKGROUND: The goal of this study was to assess patient perspectives and satisfaction with the MiniMed 670G insulin pump. Those participants who used the pump as part of a hybrid closed loop were also asked to provide their views on the automatic feature (auto mode). METHODS: Adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus using the Medtronic™ 670G pump were asked about their experience with the device using a semi-structured survey developed by the research team. Responses were quantified to identify emergent themes. RESULTS: Seventeen participants used the pump as part of a hybrid closed loop system

Nuisance Symptoms in Total Joint Arthroplasty: Prevalence and Impact on Patient Satisfaction.

BACKGROUND: While hip and knee total joint arthroplasty (TJA) patients experience marked improvement in pain relief and function, many patients experience nuisance symptoms, which may cause discomfort and dissatisfaction. METHODS: A prospective survey study to determine type and prevalence of hip/knee TJA nuisance symptoms and impact on patient satisfaction at 1 year postoperative was conducted. The survey determined occurrence of common nuisance symptoms (eg, localized pain, swelling, instability, stiffness) and impact on overall satisfaction rated on a 10-point visual analog scale (VAS). Patient satisfaction reporting for patellofemoral arthroplasty is significantly lacking: a systematic review.

Background: Patellofemoral Arthroplasty (PFA) has been shown to be successful in restoring knee function and quality of life in patients with the isolated patellofemoral disease. Patient satisfaction has been suggested as an indicator of the quality of elective orthopedic operations, although there remains no standardized method to collect and evaluate satisfaction. The present study offers a systematic review of the available literature concerning patient satisfaction following PFA to assess common methodologies for reporting patient satisfaction. Methods: A query of the Medline database prod…

The objective of this study was to identify how features of Alzheimer's disease (AD) genetic risk disclosure communication relate to patient … atients (N = 19) and 48% of companions (N = 38). Multivariate logistic regressions showed that high patient satisfaction was associated with patients' expression of emotions (OR = 1.1, 95% CI: 1.0-1.1) and companions' questions about psychosocial and lifestyle topics (OR = 1.8, 95% CI: 1.1-2.8). Is Patient Satisfaction Associated with Objective Measures of Geriatric Hip Fracture Care?

BACKGROUND: Patient satisfaction is publicly reported and used as a subjective measure of quality of care in alternative payment reimbursement models. In this study, we evaluated the association between patient satisfaction scores and objective measures of geriatric hip fracture care. Therefore, according to patient satisfaction score, we investigated the differences for geriatric hip fracture admissions in regard to 1. surgical delay during the index admission and 2. mortality within 1 year. METHODS: We identified 65,974 patients between the ages of 60 and 99 years with a primary diagnosis o…

BACKGROUND: Mammaplasty in gender reassignment surgery is often poorly understood, due to a lack of information about this condition and its therapy. The aim of this work was to evaluate patient satisfaction following bilateral mastectomy for female-to-male gender reassignment. METHODS: We contacted 22 patients who underwent mammaplasty for female-to-male gender reassignment between January 2012 and March 2013 in our university hospital. Patients were sent postal questionnaires. A modified Q-breast questionnaire adapted for gender reassignment surgery enabled us to objectively evaluate patien…
