Uncovering the information immunology journals transmitted for COVID-19: A bibliometric and visualization analysis.

BACKGROUND: Since the global epidemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a large number of immunological studies related to COVID-19 have been published in various immunology journals. However, the results from these studies were discrete, and no study summarized the important immunological information about COVID-19 released by these immunology journals. This study aimed to comprehensively summarize the knowledge structure and research hotspots of COVID-19 published in major immunology journals through bibliometrics. METHODS: Publications on COVID-19 in major immunology journals wer

Direct-Acting Oral Anticoagulants in Atrial Fibrillation: What's New in the Literature.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is considered the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia, and it is associated with a significant risk of adverse events, especially ischemic stroke. Oral anticoagulation is the cornerstone for stroke prevention in AF; for many years, only vitamin K antagonists were used for this purpose, with an absolute risk reduction >60%. However, these agents have limitations, such as narrow therapeutic margins and drug-food and drug-drug interactions. More recently, 4 direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs)-non-vitamin K antagonists-have become available for patients with AF:

METHODS: This is a bibliometric study conducted through a comprehensive documentary query applied to the "Pubmed" portal and using the "Medline" database. The essential themes of a publication have been defined by referring to its major keywords. RESULTS: A total of 173 publications were included in this study, representing a productivity rate of 14 articles / 100 surgeons' teachers-year. These publications were co-authored by 65 authors in f

"Carpal tunnel syndrome:" A bibliometric study of 35 years of research.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a disease caused by compression of the median nerve passing through the wrist. Patients suffer from severe pain and paresthesis in the median nerve. Compression of the median nerve occurs, with prolonged working on keyboards (computer or laptop or music players) being one of the reasons along with others such as diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis. CTS research holds great promise for the patients as well as doctors for better medical treatment. The study has been carried out with an objective to analyze research progress based on the literature published on CTS du

Reflections on the Journal of Applied Psychology for 1989 to 1994: Changes in major research themes and practices over 25 years.

Informal observations concerning journal content indicates that research investigating organizational behavior topics, including work on the structure of groups and determinants and consequences of group process along with the role of leadership in groups, has increased. Some topics have disappeared (e.g., job analysis, human factors, union-related work, consumer behavior) and others are declining (e.g., research methods, psychometrics). Perhaps the biggest change is in the length of articles, which is mostly a function of the inclusion of greater numbers of references and appendix material. P

An analysis of the types of recently published research in the field of cachexia.

Introduction Cachexia is a common complication of many and varied chronic disease processes, yet it has received very little attention as an area of clinical research effort until recently. We sought to survey the contemporary literature on published research into cachexia to define where it is being published and the proportion of output classified into the main types of research output. Methods I searched the PubMed listings under the topic research term "cachexia" and related terms for articles published in the calendar years of 2015 and 2016, regardless of language. Searches were conducted

Top-100 cited articles on Guillain-Barré syndrome: a bibliometric analysis.

Since the first description of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) 100 years ago, the concept of this syndrome has changed remarkably. The purpose of our study was to identify and characterize the most-cited articles that have contributed to advancing the understanding of GBS. Based on the database of Journal Citation Reports, we selected 554 journals that were considered as potential sources of reports on studies related to clinical neurology and general medicine. The Web of Science search tools were used to identify the most-cited articles relevant to GBS or other variants in the selected journals

Is the impact factor the only game in town?

“Not everything that can be counted counts. Not everything that counts can be counted.” William Bruce Cameron Journal metrics mania started over 50 years ago with the impact factor that has since become so well entrenched in publishing. Ask anyone where they would like to publish their research and most will reply by saying in a journal with the highest impact factor. While this suggests quality and a degree of vetting by the scientific community, the impact factor has also been used to benchmark and compare journals. Impact factors are often used as a proxy of a journal 's quality and scienti

A synopsis of recent papers published in psychiatric journals in the Russian Federation.

Four influential papers that have appeared recently in the main psychiatric journals from Russia are summarized. The first paper examines socio-demographic profile and clinical manifestations and data of people with mental disorders attending the private psychiatric clinics. It was seen that about 50% of private mental health settings' patients had never consulted a public psychiatric service before seeking help at private psychiatric clinics. Private mental health services have proven their effectiveness in the treatment of non-psychotic disorders and intervention in early onset psychoses. Th
