Keratosis follicularis spinulosa decalvans is a disorder affecting the hair follicles characterized by scarring alopecia of the scalp, eyebrows, and axillae, sometimes associated with photophobia and keratoderma. Being X-linked, it is more commonly seen in males but can be rarely seen in females also. We report three cases of this rare disorder including one in a female.

We report a 13-year-old boy with ectodermal dysplasia, ectrodactyly, and syndactyly, hypospadias, photophobia, conductive hearing loss, and perioral papillomatosis. His father had ectrodactyly and hypotrichosis. The clinical picture suggested ectrodactyly-ectodermal dysplasia-clefting (EEC) syndrome. Albinism is inherited as autosomal recessive, with one exception: Ocular albinism, which has an x-linked trait. Visual symptoms include photophobia, varying degrees of nystagmus, reduction in visual acuity from 20/30 to 20/400 and varying degrees of moderate to high amounts of corneal astigmatism. A case of visually-induced motion sickness (VIMS) is presented. The patient underwent a program of dynamic adaptive vision therapy which relieved her symptoms of motion sickness. Symptoms of VIMS may include photophobia, an inability to read in a moving auto, and nausea, dizziness, headache, eye strain and anxiety following provocative visual stimuli. A 22-year-old woman presented with fever, chills, photophobia, and headaches, followed by a centrally clearing erythematous skin eruption, migratory polyarthralgias, conjunctivitis, and subsequently, tender, nodular skin lesions. Antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi were consistent with acute Lyme disease. Skin biopsy revealed acute septal panniculitis. This dermatologic manifestation has not been previously described in Lyme disease.
