INTRODUCTION: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused unprecedented disruptions to cancer care worldwide. We conducted a multidisciplinary survey of the real-world impact of the pandemic, as perceived by patients with cancer.

OBJECTIVE: Important components of stigma include imagining what others might think of a stigmatized status, anticipating what might transpire in an interaction with others, and rehearsing what one might do if something untoward occurs. These imagined relations are here called symbolic interaction stigma and can have an impact even if the internalization of negative stereotypes fails to occur. Concepts and measures that capture symbolic interaction stigma are introduced, and a preliminary assessment of their impact is provided.

Social isolation is common among individuals with isolated cleft lip and palate (ICLP), but the available data on why this may be are mixed. We present a novel theory relating to reduced social motivation in ICLP, called the social abulia hypothesis. BACKGROUND: Biofortified orange-fleshed sweetpotato (OFSP) varieties are being promoted to reduce vitamin A deficiencies due to their higher beta-carotene content. For OFSP varieties to have impact they need to be accepted and consumed at scale amongst populations suffering from vitamin A deficiencies.
OBJECTIVE: We investigated the sensory and cultural acceptability of OFSP varieties amongst households with children aged between 2-5 years old in two areas in Central and Southern Malawi using an integrated model of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Health Belief Model (HBM).

This study describes the affective component of hostility as measured by the Cook-Medley Hostility Scale (Ho; W. Cook & D. Medley, 1954) by examining the relationship between facial expressions of emotion and Ho scores in 116 male coronary heart disease patients. People with young onset Parkinson's disease (YOPD) encounter unique challenges. Coping is therefore vitally important to effectively manage stressors. We thematically analyzed 17 semi-structured interviews regarding coping strategies. In cohort data (YOPD n = 74, late onset PD n = 214), we analyzed the frequency of coping styles.
