Malignant mixed mesodermal tumor (MMMT) of the ovary is a rare aggressive tumor that consists of an epithelial (carcinoma) and a stromal (sarcoma) component. We report two cases of digestive/intra-abdominal PEComa. The first lesion developed in the caecum of a 36-year-old woman, the second in the pararectal region of a 35-year-old woman. The first tumor was formed from spindle cells arranged in fascicles, the second contained predominantly epithelioid cells with prominent nucleoli. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells expressed smooth muscle actin and melanocyte markers (HMB45), S-100 protein and CD117 were negative. Based on the morphologic aspect and, above all, on the immunohistochemical study the diagnosis of PEComa was retained for both lesions.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Hyalinizing clear-cell carcinoma (HCCC) is a rare malignant tumor of the minor salivary glands characterized by nests of clear cells within a hyalinized stroma. Its diagnosis remains challenging due to its histological similarity to other neoplasms, and the recent recognition of distinct molecular features, such as Ewing sarcoma breakpoint region 1 (EWSR1)-activating transcription factor 1 (ATF1) fusion. BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma is a rare, extramedullary, solid tumor derived from immature myeloid cell precursors. It is most frequently accompanied by acute myelogenous leukemia, though infrequently found in non-acute myelogenous leukemia patients. The tumor may involve any part of the body, but the lumbar spine is seldom involved. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) can present in a number of different ways, including as a primary cutaneous lesion or at various other extranodal sites. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Soft tissue sarcoma localization in distal extremities (DESTS) of the limbs (hand/fingers, and foot/toes) is unusual. The literature is scarce about their behavior and this study was designed to assess their epidemiological characteristics, outcomes, and prognosis compared to other limb localizations (OLSTS).
METHODS: From 1980 to 2010, adult DESTS and OLSTS in 22 centers were included. Demographics, tumor type, treatment modalities, and latest follow-up status were collected. Primary endpoints were overall survival and local/metastatic recurrence incidences.

Beside lung and skeleton, renal cell carcinoma (RCC) can also metastasize to the brain. In order to collect clinical and histopathological data on these tumors, we studied the local distribution of 50 metastases of RCC in different brain regions (frontal, parietal, temporal occipital lobe and brain stem/cerebellum) and found frequencies ranging from 18.4% to 22.4% in each region.
