Sebaceous carcinoma is a rare cutaneous malignant tumor, usually occurring on the eyelids, head, neck, and trunk. There have been few reports about sebaceous carcinoma with primary lung cancer, for which optimal therapy has not yet been established. A 70-year-old man presented with a mass in the left iliac bone and tumor of the lower left lung. The morphological characteristics of the iliac bone biopsy pathology and immunostaining results showed sebaceous gland differentiation. After systemic examination, we diagnosed a primary lung sebaceous carcinoma with intrapulmonary and bone metastases.

CLINICAL CASES: A 94-year-old woman, who had had a chalazion for a period of 8 months, presented because of thickening of the eyelid with necrosis, madarosis and adenopathy. A 67-year-old woman, previously operated on for a sebaceous carcinoma, presented because of reddening of the conjunctiva and eyelid. Extraocular sebaceous carcinoma is a rare neoplasm. Purely in situ extraocular sebaceous carcinoma is extremely rare and somewhat controversial. Review of the literature reveals only three reported cases, two of which involved the head and neck and one the arm. The ones on the head and neck arose in association with an actinic keratosis. We report three cases of extraocular sebaceous carcinoma in situ and describe the first report of immunoperoxidase screening for mismatch repair proteins in such tumors.

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is a rare cutaneous adnexal tumor that usually arises in the head and neck region. It may develop de novo or within a nevus sebaceus. Linear syringocystadenoma papilliferum is an uncommon variant of this benign tumor. We report a child with linear retroauricular distribution of syringocystadenoma papilliferum. A background nevus sebaceus was shown histologically. Total excision was curative with no recurrence. An association between the linear variant of syringocystadenoma papilliferum and nevus sebaceus has not been reported previously.

We report a sebaceous carcinoma confined to the corneoscleral limbus without involvement of the eyelid. A 60-year-old man, who showed multiple masses on the corneaoscleral limbus and limbal ulceration but with normal eyelids, underwent surgical en-bloc excision of the masses. Histopathologic examination revealed a sebaceous carcinoma. Three weeks after excision, multiple pagetoid recurrences were found along the bulbar conjunctiva 2 mm away from the limbus. A case of sebaceous carcinoma arising in the left submandibular gland of a 66-year-old man is reported. The clinical and pathological examinations revealed a carcinoma, which was to salivary gland in origin, with regional lymph nodal metastases. Pathological findings showed features of high-grade sebaceous carcinoma with spindle myoepitheliomatous differentiation. Neither squamous cell nor duct epithelial-like cell differentiation was noted. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells were positive for cytokeratin, S-100 protein and vimentin. Lipid was demonstrated in the cytoplasm of the tumor cells.

Of 1146 caprine necropsy or biopsy specimens submitted from 1987 through 2011 to the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Oregon State University, 100 goats (8.7%) had 102 tumors. Detailed records were available for 89 cases. Fifty-five goats were female, 17 were castrated males, and 12 were intact males. Breeds included 21 Nubian, 16 Pygmy, 10 Pygora, 8 Alpine, 4 Angora, 4 Saanen, 2 Toggenburg, and 9 crossbred goats.
