Subcutaneous lesions may be detected during follow-up of patients with melanoma. The main entities that should be contemplated in the differential diagnosis in such cases are in-transit and regional lymph node metastases. The passage of a silicone oil bubble under the retina is a rare but severe complication of retinal detachment (RD) surgery. It may cause a permanent detachment and/or migrate with time, decreasing visual function. We present five cases in which the subretinal oil bubble was successfully extracted from the subretinal space by retinotomy. Siliconoma represents a granulomatous foreign body reaction to silicone, which is often used for soft tissue augmentation. Although considered as biologically inert for a long time, silicone has been implicated in various undesirable local and systemic reactions, sometimes with a latency period of up to several decades. Treatment of siliconomas is difficult and granulomas involving the face are a therapeutic challenge. We present a 43-year-old woman with a severely disfiguring facial silicone granuloma who was successfully treated with minocycline.

Fifteen endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies (DCRs) were performed without the use of silicone stents. These patients were followed up for an average of eight months. This procedure was successful in 87% of cases as measured by patients' relief of symptoms and endoscopic visualisation of a middle meatal ostium draining the lacrimal sac. Endoscopic DCR without silicone stenting compares favourably with other techniques described in the literature which use silicone stents. It does not have the disadvantage of complications associated with these stents.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficacy of silicone gel sheeting in the treatment of fresh and long-standing hypertrophic and keloid scars. All subjects applied the gel sheeting in the same fashion and wore it for twelve to twenty-four hours per day for at least two months. After at least six months' follow-up, twenty of thirty-six (56 percent) chronic scars were improved.
