Assessment of Trinidad community stakeholder perspectives on the use of yeast interfering RNA-baited ovitraps for biorational control of Aedes mosquitoes.

Dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever viruses continue to be a major public health burden. Aedes mosquitoes, the primary vectors responsible for transmitting these viral pathogens, continue to flourish due to local challenges in vector control management. Yeast interfering RNA-baited larval lethal ovitraps are being developed as a novel biorational control tool for Aedes mosquitoes. This intervention circumvents increasing issues with insecticide resistance and poses no known threat to non-target organisms. In an effort to create public awareness of this alternative vector control strateg

The Human Face of ABCC6.

Researchers working on basic and translational clinical science related to ABC transporters are enthusiastic and dedicated investigators. As the field has grown, so has its contribution to human disease. Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) International, an advocacy organization established by non-scientists, began supporting research and convenings on these transporters, specifically ABCC6, the gene associated with PXE, 20 years ago. As a patient advocacy organization, we have spent more than 25 years creating a large research consortium, initiating, funding and conducting research. Years of basic

Group Prenatal Care for Women Receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder in Pregnancy: An Interprofessional Approach.

Opioid use disorder among pregnant women is common and rapidly increasing nationwide. Group prenatal care is an innovative alternative to individual care for pregnant women and has been shown to improve women's and health care providers' satisfaction and adherence to care. We describe a novel group prenatal care program colocated in an opioid treatment program that integrates prenatal care, substance use disorder counseling, and medication-assisted treatment. Our interprofessional model draws on the unique contributions of physicians, midwives, nurses, and mental health professionals to addres

A Model for Evaluating the Procedural and Effectiveness Dimensions of Public Participation in Protected Areas: The SysMAPP.

Despite broad recognition of the role of public participation in protected area (PA) success, persistent barriers highlight the need for tools to monitor and assess participatory processes and outcomes. This study proposes the System for Monitoring and Assessment of Public Participation (SysMAPP), designed to evaluate public participation in PAs by linking procedural conditions and management outcomes. The study is based on a systematic review of existing monitoring and assessment methods, the design of SysMAPP, and its application to PAs in Brazil and Spain. SysMAPP comprises five hierarchica

Leveraging Stakeholder Mapping for Effective Change Management in Academic Dentistry: Implementation in an Integrated Care Model.

The impact of oral health on general health has gained increased attention over the past years, yet integrating a dental medicine model within academic dental settings has been challenging due to structural, technological, and cultural barriers. To address the challenges, innovative management strategies are essential for implementing the necessary changes. This paper describes the application of stakeholder mapping as a strategic framework for guiding change during the implementation of an integrated oral health care delivery model at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston S

Systematic dissemination of study findings from local to national stakeholders: a case of a social network-based study on HIV self-testing and linkage among fishermen in Kenya.

Disseminating research findings to potential beneficiaries such as study participants, community members, and stakeholders is a critical component of participatory research. While there is general agreement that dissemination is critical, documented examples of comprehensive dissemination activities are few in the literature. We present a concrete example of a multi-level stakeholder dissemination process from a successful HIV self-testing and linkage to treatment and prevention intervention, describe the dissemination framework used to guide activities, document the process required to carry

Stakeholder priorities for advancing integrative oncology across a pluralistic health system: a qualitative study from Singapore.

BACKGROUND: In Singapore, more than half of patients with cancer use traditional or complementary therapies after diagnosis. Such use is often self-directed and undisclosed to oncology clinicians, creating safety risks and care coordination challenges. To support evidence-informed integration of such therapies within conventional cancer care, this study explored stakeholder priorities for advancing integrative oncology (IO) in Singapore's pluralistic health system. METHODS: We conducted a multi-stakeholder roundtable at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Twenty-two participants were purpos

A protocol for developing, disseminating, and implementing a core outcome set for caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy research: COSCAR.

BACKGROUND: Caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy (CSEP) is the most common of type of uterine ectopic pregnancy and is associated with significant morbidity. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is therefore of paramount importance. Currently there is no universally agreed treatment option for CSEP supported by any national or international society. Studies evaluating CSEP management report many different outcomes and often define and measure success or complications of various treatments in different ways. This variation in reporting of outcomes leads to heterogeneity and an inability to directly, or r

Integration of a Tobacco Cessation Program into a Rural Community-Based Maternal and Child Health Program in India: A Stakeholders' Perspective on Task Shifting.

INTRODUCTION: According to the Global Adult Tobacco Survey-2, India, 7.5% of pregnant women are tobacco users with a high prevalence of smokeless tobacco use in rural India. Although pregnant women may receive advice to quit tobacco, lack of knowledge on providing cessation support among healthcare workers results in missed opportunities. Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a significant role in maternal and child health (MCH) programs. Thus, task-shifting for providing cessation support by CHWs was planned and the perceptions and attitudes of concerned stakeholders were explored. AIMS AND M
