The principles of the authors' intracapsular cataract extraction technique, with and without pseudophakos, are outlined. PURPOSE: To develop a mathematical model of the unconventional outflow pathway.
METHODS: The unconventional pathway is modeled as having two key components: the uveo-vortex and the trans-scleral pathways. The uveo-vortex pathway is modeled using Starling's law and the trans-scleral flow using predominately hydrostatic forces. A six year old domestic cat, blind in the right eye from birth, slowly lost sight in the left eye. An ophthalmological examination of the right eye revealed uveal leucosis and unilateral duplication of the uveal tract. The additional tissues were rotated through 90 degrees resulting in displacement of the lens. In the left eye evidence of a previous retinal detachment and consecutive traumatic cataract were noted. The etiology of these pathological findings is discussed.

A baby girl had constriction bands and digital amputations typical of the amniotic band syndrome, as well as a typical uveal coloboma in a slightly microphthalmic eye. A small, free-floating amniotic band may have lodged in the fetal uveal cleft at 5 to 6 weeks of gestation, preventing closure of the cleft and thus resulting in this first reported instance of an association between amniotic band syndrome and an isolated uveal coloboma.

Spontaneous slow potentials with amplitude ranging from 25 mcV to 1.3 mV and wave duration from 600 to 6000 msec was recorded in the receptive area of the ciliary body. Uveal melanoma is a cancer (melanoma) of the eye involving the iris, ciliary body, or choroid (collectively referred to as the uvea).
