A study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of genital herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection in 809 asymptomatic, late pregnant women attending the antenatal clinic (ANC) at Ramathibodi Hospital. There was only one case where the cervico-vaginal swab specimen was positive for HSV by cultivation and the biotin-streptavidin enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (B-SA ELISA), for detection of viral antigens. This report analyses the clinicopathologic features of three metastatic extragenital neoplasms to the cervix. These examples of metastatic extragenital malignancies to the cervix are cutaneous malignant melanoma, colorectal carcinoma, and breast carcinoma. BACKGROUND: The Bethesda System recommends reporting benign endometrial cells in cervical smears from postmenopausal (PMP) women as a glandular cell abnormality. However, PMP women on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) sometimes may experience endometrial shedding. The significance of such a finding has not been investigated in detail.
METHODS: The authors evaluated 85 PMP women with cervical smears that contained benign endometrial glandular cells. Clinical information, including vaginal bleeding and the use of HRT or tamoxifen, was recorded, and follow-up was obtained.

BACKGROUND: Primary cutaneous Paget's disease of the vulva is an intraepithelial adenocarcinoma most likely arising from a cutaneous stem cell with sweat gland epithelial differentiation or can be of sweat gland origin. Primary vulvar Paget's disease, however, can be mimicked by an internal noncutaneous neoplasm htat has extended to secondarily involve the vulva.
