BACKGROUND: Epidermal inclusion cysts (EICs) are a common cutaneous disorder in adults. The etiology of EICs remains obscure. Our clinical experience suggests that smoking may be a risk factor for the development of EICs. Superficial granulomatous pyoderma is a rare variant of pyoderma gangrenosum. The superficial ulceration and vegetative margins are clinically distinctive; the suppurative and granulomatous histology is characteristic, though not pathognomonic. The condition is said to be relatively benign and more responsive to treatment than classic pyoderma gangrenosum, though published evidence of this is not always convincing. We present a case of superficial granulomatous pyoderma that was unusually aggressive, but that underwent dramatic and lasting resolution after intravenous immunoglobulin therapy.

Although Demodex follicularum and Demodex brevis are common permanent ectoparasites of human pilosebaceous units, their incidence on children's skin is rare. We report a new case of demodicidosis in a 22-month-old girl undergoing chemotherapy for chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia associated with xanthoma and type 1 neurofibromatosis. The eruption cleared after oral and topical metronidazole therapy. Demodicidosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of facial eruption in immunosuppressed children.

UV-sensitivity is a common feature of several diseases including Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), Cockayne syndrome (CS) and Bloom syndrome (BS). In 12 children with such diseases, cell viability and DNA repair following UV-irradiation as well as PHA transformation of lymphocytes were studied. In 5 of 6 XP cases, in 1 child with CS and in 1 of 2 children with BS, DNA repair and PHA transformation of lymphocytes showed extremely depressed values. A similar study was performed in 2 children with a rare association of XP and CS. Results suggest a relationship between these 2 diseases

OBJECTIVES: Facial and genital plaques are common manifestations of psoriasis, are challenging to treat, and significantly impact patients' quality of life (QoL).
METHODS: GULLIVER is a prospective, non-interventional study conducted in 2020-2023 in Italy, aimed at examining the effectiveness, safety and QoL impact of guselkumab through 52 weeks of treatment in patients with facial and/or genital psoriasis. The primary endpoint was the percentage of patients achieving a static Physician Global Assessment (sPGA) score of ≤1 and a minimum 2-grade improvement in sPGA score at Week 52.
