BACKGROUND: Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) with a high-dose 6-grass pollen SingleDose preparation was shown to be effective and safe in a 2-year randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
OBJECTIVE: We evaluated the effect of the third year of SLIT in comparison to the second year.
METHODS: 46 grass pollen-allergic patients who had received active treatment for 3 consecutive years were included in the safety set. Diary data from 39 subjects were evaluated to calculate symptom and medication scores as well as 'well days'.

INTRODUCTION: Cortisone glaucoma is a secondary glaucoma induced by local or oral steroids used to treat chronic inflammatory diseases.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Retrospective study including 43 eyes of 23 patients (three patients were monophthalmos). We present epidemiological and clinical features with evaluation of functional damage (visual acuity, visual field), and therapeutic results with a follow-up period ranging from 2 to 10 years.
RESULTS: Topical steroids were incriminated in 15 of 23 cases (self-medication), whereas general steroids (for chronic diseases) were used by eight patients.

The efficacy of topical ketorolac 0.5% in treatment of vernal keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) was evaluated in a randomised double-blind prospective trial in 21 patients. Ketorolac treated eyes showed 50.7% reduction in main symptoms of itching compared to 33.3% relief in placebo treated eyes after 2 weeks of treatment (p < 0.01). PURPOSE: To examine the effects of treatment with a thermomechanical skin device to the eyelid area on the clinical signs and symptoms of patients who suffer from dry eye disease (DED) secondary to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
METHODS: Forty patients aged 45 years or older with DED due to MGD were recruited. Both eyes (n = 80) of each patient received three treatments with the Tixel device (Novoxel®, Israel), with each treatment separated by a 2-week period. Treatment was applied across the upper and lower eyelids, with the same intensity, tip protrusion distance, and contact duration.
