The identity of Iranian Leishmania species has been resolved to some extent by some genetic markers. In this study, based on N-acetylglucosamine-1-phosphate transferase (nagt) gene, we further elucidated the identity and phylogeny of the prevalent species in this country. Rickettsia parkeri is a recently recognized human pathogen primarily associated with the Gulf Coast tick Amblyomma maculatum, with immature stages of this tick reported from wild vertebrates. In an effort to identify novel genes that are expressed differentially in an infant thymus, we constructed an oligo-d(T) primed cDNA library from a human infant thymus followed by single-run partial sequencing to generate expressed sequence tags (ESTs). Some epoxyethane-/ethynesulfonamides had shown strong filaricidal activity with inconstant reproducibility as a result of a lack of stability in aqueous solution. Leishmania aethiopica parasites were inoculated into 11 different strains and species of small laboratory animals. Clinical lesions were only produced following inoculation of hamster noses and thus this parasite is highly selective in both species and site for the laboratory animals tested. The production of neutrophil granulocytes is a complex and dynamic process during which a small number of self-renewing stem cells give rise to lineage-specific progenitors.
