We describe a 2-month-old preterm neonate presenting with neonatal eosinophilic pustulosis, manifesting as grouped pustules on the cheeks, leukocytosis and marked blood eosinophilia, and histology demonstrating abundant eosinophils without follicular involvement. Complete resolution of his skin lesions occurred spontaneously by 4 months of age, paralleling a decline in his eosinophil count. We discuss the relationship of this eruption to other pustular disorders of infancy and hypothesize a mechanism that may initiate the eruption.

Brimonidine is a potential first line therapy for primary open angle glaucoma (OAG) and ocular hypertension (OHT). It is known to cause various ocular and systemic side effects. We describe four patients with lymphoproliferative lesions confined to the skin for several years. They presented with recurrent necrotic papulovesicles of the face. Latent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection was detected in the lymphoid cells from the skin lesions by in situ hybridization. The disease in three patients progressed to T-cell lymphoma. We believe that these patients represent a subset of peripheral T-cell lymphoma with a tendency to localize in the skin.

Recent decades have seen the inclusion of acne vulgaris as a potential new indication for photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy and light sources can be considered to be additional tools for primary or adjunctive therapy in patients with recurrent acne or those in whom it is not possible to use other treatments. We investigated the use of pulsed dye laser plus methylaminolevulinate for photodynamic therapy and have performed a comparative study of the use of this laser alone and as an element in photodynamic therapy.

Leishmaniases are parasitic diseases frequent in the Mediterranean Basin. In Algeria they occupy the first place among parasitic diseases and represent 35% of diseases with compulsory notification. This is an alarming situation because the extension of the disease can also deteriorate the epidemiological situation of the tuberculosis and the HIV/AIDS because of coinfection. The authors report a series of 213 cases of Aden ulcers listed in the wilaya of Tizi-Ouzou within nine years, region known for endemia of infantile visceral leishmaniases.
