BACKGROUND: Localization of suspected metastatic LNs during targeted robot-assisted lymphadenectomy is challenging due to anatomical variability and surrounding vital structures. Image-guided surgical navigation may improve intraoperative LN localization and completeness of oncologic dissection. The aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy and usability of surgical navigation for localization of suspected metastatic lymph nodes (LNs) during robot-assisted pelvic and retroperitoneal LN dissection.

Retroperitoneal hematoma due to late perforation of aortic wall endograft deployment is a rare but, potentially, fatal event. We report a case of symptomatic retroperitoneal hematoma due to aortic perforation by free flow barbs of Ovation Prime stent graft. The patient was successfully treated by celiac trunk embolization and aortic cuff placement. The patient was discharged with no further treatment. At 3-month follow-up, no complications were detected.

Venous retroperitoneal hematoma (VRH) can present as a sudden-onset life-threatening condition. Unlike arterial hematoma, VRH is difficult to treat because of anatomic and structural considerations. Moreover, because VRH is rare and iatrogenic, there are no commercially available devices to treat this problem. Postchemotherapy surgery for advanced testicular cancer has evolved over the last couple of decades. Image fusion between sonography and CT allows real-time synchronization of CT multiplanar reconstructed images with the corresponding sonographic images. This technique has mainly been used in liver imaging. We report the use of image fusion to target and successfully guide the percutaneous biopsy of a retroperitoneal a mass. This technique represents a promising tool in abdominal imaging, and it should be considered for the biopsy of lesions that are difficult to approach with conventional imaging guidance techniques.

We report a 76-yr-old man with left femoral nerve distribution weakness resulting from a nontraumatic retroperitoneal hematoma associated with coumadin anticoagulation. Although electric root stimulation was relatively contraindicated, magnetic lumbosacral root stimulation identified a proximal conduction block allowing more extensive assessment of the nerve damage. To our knowledge, this is the first report of magnetic root stimulation in assessment of lumbosacral plexus dysfunction in retroperitoneal hematoma.

AIMS: To determine the rate of HER-2/neu positivity of germ cell tumours by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and by fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH).
PATIENTS/METHODS: Ninety six archival, paraffin wax embedded pathology specimens were chosen from four groups of germ cell tumours. IHC for HER-2/neu was performed with the HercepTest kit; FISH analysis was performed with the INFORM assay and confirmed with a centromere 17 probe.
