BACKGROUND INFORMATION: There are significant indications that amphibians require TH (thyroid hormones) prior to their involvement in the regulation of metamorphosis and before the development of a functional thyroid.

Rare cases of West Nile virus (WNV)-associated inflammation outside the central nervous system (CNS) have been reported. We evaluated the systemic distribution of WNV in postmortem tissues during encephalitis in six patients using immunohistochemistry. PURPOSE: To retrospectively review our experience with visceral artery aneurysms (VAAs) treated with percutaneous coil embolization techniques.
METHODS: Patient records were retrospectively reviewed between 1988 and 1998 for VAA cases treated with catheter-based techniques. OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the possible prevention of renal and intestinal ischaemia during surgery of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA) by use of retrograde and selective organ perfusion.
