PURPOSE: The frequency of parenteral and cutaneous exposure to blood or body fluid during interventional radiologic procedures, current use of barrier precautions by interventional radiologists, and physician attitudes about testing for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and related issues were assessed.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), smoking and self-rated health in a high HIV prevalence urban workforce.
