Prehospital plasma transfusion versus standard of care following traumatic injury: a review of the systematic reviews and a meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: Individual studies suggest that administering prehospital blood products such as plasma to injured patients is feasible, may lower mortality, and improve coagulation. By compiling all existing evidence, we aimed to investigate whether prehospital plasma (PHP) transfusion can be safely administered and improve the clinical outcomes of trauma patients. METHODS: A systematic review (SR) and meta-analysis were conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines to assess the effectiveness and safety of PHP transfusion compared to the standard of care in trauma patients. A literature se

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm in Women and Men: A Systematic Review of Sex-Specific Outcomes in the United Kingdom.

BACKGROUND: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is less common in women than in men; however, when present, women appear to follow a more aggressive disease course, rupturing at smaller diameters and experiencing worse operative outcomes. The United Kingdom provides a unique environment in which to evaluate sex-specific outcomes, as national screening invitations are extended to men only and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance applies a uniform 5.5 cm threshold for elective repair irrespective of sex. METHODS: A systematic review was undertaken in accordance with Preferred

The Use of Deep Learning and Machine Learning on Longitudinal Electronic Health Records for the Early Detection and Prevention of Diseases: Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Electronic health records (EHRs) contain patients' health information over time, including possible early indicators of disease. However, the increasing amount of data hinders clinicians from using them. There is accumulating evidence suggesting that machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) can assist clinicians in analyzing these large-scale EHRs, as algorithms thrive on high volumes of data. Although ML has become well developed, studies mainly focus on engineering but lack medical outcomes. OBJECTIVE: This study aims for a scoping review of the evidence on how the use of ML

Effectiveness of Remote Fetal Monitoring on Maternal-Fetal Outcomes: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND: To solve the disadvantages of traditional fetal monitoring such as time-consuming, cumbersome steps and low coverage, it is paramount to develop remote fetal monitoring. Remote fetal monitoring expands time and space, which is expected to popularize fetal monitoring in remote areas with the low availability of health services. Pregnant women can transmit fetal monitoring data from remote monitoring terminals to the central monitoring station so that doctors can interpret it remotely and detect fetal hypoxia in time. Fetal monitoring involving remote technology has also been carried

Evaluation of the Therapeutic Outcomes of Antibiotic Regimen Against Carbapenemase-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (CpKP) has been implicated as an increasing threat to public health. CpKP is a ubiquitous, opportunistic pathogen that causes both hospital and community acquired infections. This organism hydrolyzes carbapenems and other β-lactams and thus, leading to multiple resistance to these antibiotics. Despite the difficult to treat nature of infections caused by CpKP, little has been discussed on the mortality, clinical response and microbiological success rates associated with various antibiotic regimen against CpKP. This meta-analysis was des
