METHODS: Rate of axial growth of 158 eyes (79 children < 10 years) undergoing surgery was correlated with age at surgery, laterality, and visual axis obscuration. After measuring axial length (AL) at each follow-up, the mean AL was calculated, adding the AL of all eyes divided by their total number. PURPOSE: To evaluate tilt and decentration after primary and secondary implantation of transsclerally sutured posterior chamber intraocular lenses (PC IOLs).
SETTING: Dokuz Eylül University Medical School, Department of Ophthalmology, Izmir, Turkey.
METHODS: Fifty-six consecutive eyes of 53 patients who had implantation of transsclerally sutured PC IOLs were prospectively included in the study. Intraocular lens tilt and decentration after primary (14 eyes) and secondary (42 eyes) implantation were compared quantitatively using Purkinje images.

A new method for surgical treatment of secondary glaucoma (neovascular, postuveal, traumatic, and aphakic) is described. The aims of the new method are as follows: regulation of ophthalmic tone in the postoperative period, pain relief, organ preservation, stabilization of the process, and creation of reliable routes of intraocular fluid discharge with formation of a stable diffuse functional pad. Seven patients (8 eyes) aged 13-70 years were operated on and followed up for up to 6 months. Preliminary results are presented. Positive shifts were observed in all cases.

PURPOSE: We describe an aphakic patient who developed recurrent Propionibacterium acnes endophthalmitis after Molteno tube revision.
PATIENT AND METHOD: The patient presented with a red painful right eye, decreased vision, and a hypopyon. A moderate anterior chamber reaction and mild vitritis were present. PURPOSE: To compare the surgical and postoperative complications and visual outcome of extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) with and without intraocular lens (IOL) implant in Fuchs heterochromic cyclitis.
METHODS: The records of 77 patients with Fuchs heterochromic cyclitis who had undergone ECCE were reviewed. Of a total of 77 eyes, a posterior chamber IOL (PC IOL) was implanted in 43 eyes, whereas 34 eyes did not receive an implant.

A consecutive series of 721 eyes was followed for visual acuity changes after keratoplasty in four groups: keratoconus, Fuchs' dystrophy, pseudophakic bullous keratopathy with retained intraocular lenses, and aphakic/pseudophakic bullous keratopathy with secondary implants during keratoplasty. We report the successful treatment of three cases of traumatic ruptures of the globe complicated by massive choroidal hemorrhage, uveal prolapse and retinal detachment. The purpose of the present investigation was to define clinically the effect of topical indomethacin in preventing CME. The study was conducted on 50 patients who underwent bilateral intracapsular extraction of senile cataracts. One eye was used as the experimental subject and the other as the control. Stereoacuity levels regained after uniocular lens implantation for unilateral cataract are related to the final visual acuity of the operated eye. They compare unfavorably with levels reported in normal populations and are unrelated to the period of monocularity and the residual optical defects of the operated eyes. Using random dot stereograms as a criterion, over a third of thirty-five patients remained stereoblind after treatment.
